dion999 - you are spot on. I drive my diesel Mondeo mostly on short distances and I am getting 9.6L/100km.
I have to follow the manual's advice to make sure that I take the car out for a longer drive at higher speed (actually revs) on weekends to make sure that the soots in the Diesel Particle Filter are burnt off.
