Question engine wont start :( AU s1

Ok i did post something similar in the e series forums..... but its kinda an au-s1 problem
i have just finished putting au gear in my ea.... i mean everything.... swapped out the entire wiring loom engine accessorys etc, and at the same time i am trying to get it to work with my manual gearbox (was an auto AU)
so i have put a resistor in to make it think the temp is correct and another so it thinks it is in neutral.

at this point in time i have got the engine ticking over (not only is there a resistor so the car thinks it is in neutral there is also a switch which i have set to 'park', before that it wouldnt even crank)

there is definatly a spark....
so what is stopping it?
fuel pump is running fine so i can only assume its the injectors but i have no idea why thay wouldnt be firing?
everything is plugged in as it was except for the airbag and the auto.

if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated....
all the au gear is from a 98 S1 with smartlock...but there is not smartlock warning light.... the only other light i can see that comes up on the dash when I turn it over is the one that looks like ((!))

sorry if thats i bit hard to read....im going out of my brain
Regards

Cam

i'm pretty sure ((!)) is the brake warning light.

Personally if it's ticking over, it's more engine related than installation problem. I could be wrong though.

Cheers

do you have a manual ECU? that way you wont need the resistor and whatnot

if it's smartlock i don't think the engine would even turn over

in order to check if injectors are working or not try starting car with carby cleaner, if it fires and "sorta runs" u know u dont get fuel from ur injectors.

use a multimeter to chase down if permanent power is going to the injectors. if there is u can iether use and injector test light to see if its firing or use a long screw driver and rest on an injector and hold ur ear to other side and listen for a knocking noise. if thats that case the needle opens closes and points towards a fuel pressure issue. if there is no noise u can safely assume that there is no signal from ecu to injectors. also check ur timing . check all fuses

that would be my starting point.

also did transfer the smart lock box as well and the barrell?

are u suing the au ignition barrell?

the injectors are fired directy from the ecu without relays in between to elimenate delays. do do u have postive 12V current on ignition on on all injectors?

ill check the voltage... i thought they only have power if they were firing?
or does the ecu go low to fire them?

lol injector pulse signals are done via earthing, hence a constant charge is delieverd to the injectors, when the earth trigger is activated it closes the loop and u have an injection cycle of x amount of ms.

now next trick is to hold a screw driver ti it with ur on the otehr end and listen for a ticking sound.

i wonder if u may have a crank angle signal issue, but that wouldnt explain the ignition firing. its a little hard with standrad ecus to diagnose. :(

been trying to work this out from the diagrams in the gallery.... but the large pic for the fuel injection system is tiny and you cant read the writing

http://www.fordforums.com.au/photos/...php?photo=2292

is there a bigger copy that someone might have?? i kinda need to know what colours the injectore wires are and what pins they go to

Thanks

Cam

very interested what you have done as I might be looking at doing the same thing in the near future (looks at engine and trans in the shed). did the loom hook up to the EA dash or did you put the AU dash in it??
