Default BA Stripe Kit

Hey guys!

Just wondering what the cost is for the BA stripes on the Mark II GT/GTP range? I think they would make a nice addition to my modded XR6.

Thanks,

Shockwave XR6 NA

this arguement popped up a while ago. a lot of people didnt like the stripes on the XR range, but my local dealer puts them on just about all of the XRs and i really like them. i am undecided about the stripes on the side of the bulge, but thsat wont affect you anyway. IMO, if you like the stripes, go right ahead.

aight, ive heard about this "discussion" before, alot of people think that GT/GT-P stripes should only belong on a GT/GT-P hence tahts why theyre called GT stripes and not XR stripes.

Now i have to admit that when put on an XR8 it gets a bit confusing to me as to whether im looking at a XR or a GT/GT-P as im driving past, and i know alot of people put them on to make people think they own a GT/GT-P. Its not only them that do it, alot of people try to make their cars something theyre not.

IMHO i think that if the owner is happy with it then it shouldnt really matter what other people think, cause you obviously didnt buy the car because you want your friends and other people to like you now did you? so why modify your car to other peoples liking???

got a gut feeling????? then follow it i say

BTW that bonnet bulge sticker looks pretty sweet :P

I think the stripes look good. Maybe consider a different version, with two thinner stripes either side of the "fat" ones, just so it doesnt look like you'r trying to knock off the GT''s. You'll probably find that you like the ones that you created more! and then it will be really individual car.

As for cost, i have no idea. Check out some vinyl sticker places, give them the dimensions and they should be able to provide you with a rough price. Id think ~$200. Theres a fair bit of material involved.

yeah 200 should be a decent amount for both sides, provided the stripes arent too fat lol

You can get them fairly cheap. I got a set for $30 but never put them on my car. They appeared really good quality and the guy was originally selling them for $220 but eh he didnt manage that price on ebay. I haven't seen him list them again.

The colour of the car is Shockwave. Colour of the stripes would be the factory silver colour.

I admire someone who is prepared to go it alone and do mods that people say will looks crap.
As most of the time those same people come around and say it looks great.

Its got me Stuffed.

if ya not puttin GT badges, or GT in the stripes, go for it. personally i think they suit the GT's kit a lot more, but thats just me. they dont look bad on the other models, and i've seen quite a few of them around here. black stripes on a blueprint XR6. black on an SR, and it would look mean if he color coded his side moulding....it looks like a 3rd stripe, but totally out of place.

Those 'iron-on' stripes are in poor taste no matter what the car. GT included! They remind me of a guy in primary school whos mum sewed adidas stripes to his jeans! :P
