Default stolen plates

hey there

came outside this morning to find my private plates missing , its a little frustrating having to get new ones and also get them remade but what i cant understand is why someone would wanna steal both plates ?

they know i will report them as stolen so why take both,it really does confirm that crims really are stupid, i just cant understand the logic behind it

Most of the times plates are stolen so people can put them on their own car fill it up with fuel drive off and throw away the plates so in effect they are stealing them to get a free tank of fuel IMO. Still makes them scum though

i would think most personalised plates would be stolen for ppls sheds, my mate had the vic reg RIOT plates and they got knocked off.

don't report them stolen just say you lost them....otherwise everytime a cop runs a check on them they will come up stolen....

my brother had the same problem on his RX3 and considering it was highly modified and bordering on being legal it was a massive hassle getting pulled over all the time.

it got to the stage where we went to our local cop station and had the cop in charge writeup a letter stating the plates are not stolen etc, we then placed his business card with the letter, laminated it and kept it in the glovebox as insurance for when we got pulled over...

Couldnt those plates be used by crims interstate where the local authorities wouldnt have a clue about the plates that went missing in another state?

ive had my personalized plates stolen, probly used for a petty runner

the rta gave me a different number after my initials which didnt bother me as they said once they were reported stolen it would show up on police checks, which i didnt want happening

next set u put on use bolts and at the back behind the bumper put one nut then a disposable double edged razor blade then another nut to secure it,
if someones playing tricks on you theyl get what they deserve....

just dont ever forget that u done it

probs just the first car they came across.

why not just replace the screws with a torx..doubt they'd have a bit on them.

NSW, once plates are stolen (1 or both) you can't get the same ones remade. As most of you have said the common use is to steal petrol followed by ram raids.

Bad news mate it sure does sux.
