I'm tentatively looking at buying a new daily (read second hand) car. So I toyed with the idea of a luxury Jap car, even a Euro but though "hey I'm a V8 dude at heart I may as well get a V8"
Well a V8 with auto, leather, under 60,000kms, 3 or 4 years old from a dealer (so I can trade in) for around $35K gives me basically no Ford. If I go to the dark side there a heaps of decent looking cars. Being 40 this really is the second time my beloved Ford has let me down, first in the XF when the dropped the 8 and now again there are no affordable V8 options unless I go FPV, but I would blow my budget by a fair whack. Probably why the Holden fan base is so much more prolific. So no V8 for me, unless I go for an older boiler or stump up an extra 15K for an FPV. Anyway rant over back to looking at Euros 4cyl turbos.. |

Well there is 16 FG GT's for under $40k and dozens of FG XR8's under $35k. Asking price.
Still I'll give you credit for finding a new way to say Ford is doomed. It's resale values are to good.

Why not rather get yourself a 1 year old FG XR6 turbo? for 35k you should be able to pick up an FGII model as well

FG XR8 with options should be doable. Or a late model BF GT-P in good condition should be easily doable if you look and bargain hard enough. I would have a nice BF GT-P over a povvo FG perhaps.

Yeah they were the cars I was thinking but nothing (at a dealer) in NSW. I wanted to trade so I drop my car off and jump in the new car. If I sell private I'm left carless while I look and I prefer not to be under pressure when buying. I did this last time and had to use one of my GTs as a daily and that just P****ed me off as it took a few weeks to find a car and even then I bought a car because I was under pressure.
Type in Commonhore and there are 10 pages worth of cars.... I'll keep looking, just disappointing for us Ford lovers. |

I dont get it.
There are 35 FG XR8's on carsales, only 10 of which are over your budget. Like this one for example; http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/de...-2009-13982941 |

I refined the search, and there are only 2 FG XR8's in Sydney dealerships, both with around 100,000km, so I do see your point there. There are plenty around the rest of the country though, you might need to go on a road trip to get the car you want, or just buy a Holden. |

So few FG XR8s were produced, I'm sure most now have good homes.

Part of Fords appeal to me has always been their relative scarcity.

I think a VE SS-V would be a good car. You will easily get a one year old car with balance of warranty within your budget, and there will be plenty to choose from.
