Default No rego sticker, will i get busted?

I got a new windscreen yesturday, and no longer have a rego sticker as the people ****ed off with my original!

Now ive ordered another which is 7 working days away, i forgot to ask if the coppas can fine me for not having one?

Can someone shed some light on this issue?

Cheers.

Do you have proof of ordering it? ie: receipt. If yes, shouldnt be any problem. Its their delay and not yours.

If youre too lazy to order one, up here, you get pinched $50 for failure to display and another $50 if you havent removed the old one. Doesnt apply to you though.

Do you have your receipt for the windscreen? If so you can prove the reason it's not there. And they can check very quickly for current rego status. In short, you should be fine.

I think if you got pulled over the coppers should be able to check if you have ordered a new rego sticker if they wish. If they ask why you havent got one displayed & you explain that you had a new windscreen fitted & when you realised later the fitter hadnt swapped your sticker over (im sure that common sense would prevail & no fine) or at least I would hope so. But im sure they are able to issue a fine anything that helps the state goverments coffers.

They never charged me for the windscreen as they stuffed it up and had to do it a few times which then lead to the car having to go to a panel shop to have around the screen repainted and another new screen fitted..

So I havent got anything except for a keyring from the panel shop, and i had to order the new one by phone so i didnt get a receipt there either.. :( Hopefully ill be right till next week or when ever it turns up.

They can and will book you for no label, depending on your attitude and/or the mood of the officer involved.

If you nip into the RTA, they should be able to provide you with a paper interim label to use until the new sticker arrives.

My rego expires in October. I've still got my 2005 sticker on because I'm too lazy to change it. Haven't been booked yet. I don't think I'll bother with 2006, I'll just wait until I get my 2007 one.

In Victoria it is a $60 fine for not displaying a current Rego Sticker. They can check it on the computer in the car or over the radio. But if you talk to the copper they will let you off the first time. Apparently they can log in in there system so if they catch you in a week. you will get the $60 fine.

Do you have paperwork from when you paid the rego? If the car is new (< 1year old, in it's first rego year), there should be some paperwork somewhere saying when it was registered and when it expires. Keep this piece of paper in your car and produce it in the event of being pulled over along with an explanation of the hassles with the windscreen.

FWIW, every time they do a check on you, your car, or your house it gets logged and saved so the next time you get pulled up they can throw it all back at you.

Innocent untill proven guilty? .... yeah right.

Qld? Youll be fine.

Even if you go into Qld Transport they only give you a slip of paper that says its ordered and paid for. Mine took 4 weeks to turn up, I was pulled over, they were fine, just asked where my label was, I told them Im waiting for it to arrive, they said no worries, checked the rego on the incar computer, sent me on my way, didnt even ask to see the receipt.

Mate, as long as you still have the original papers in the glovebox i cant see a problem with things, if you are REALLY concerned bolt into the dept of transport, tell them the story, and they whould sort out a letter for you

Even without the papers you should be fine, as long as you got a clear head with the coppers
