Default what are the odds eh...

Last Christmas holidays almost to the day i got pinged by a copper coming back home from up the lakes doing 127k in my XR8 ute cost me $170 and 35 demerits,at the time a little ****ed off but took it on the chin (no choice really) though as the copper was full of friendly banter i did suggest we call it 119k so as to go to the lower level of demerits he wouldnt have a bar of it so i told him to shut-up and write the ticket Today sun was out so off we went up the lakes and on the way home not that far from last year i get a mufti with discos on having learnt last year to take no notice of the friendly banter thought "**** it" and ignored the wifes advice to calm down and got out of the Falcon and simply said "what the **** do you want' the look on his face was priceless though as expected he did recover and explained to me that the speed was unacceptable having already dug a hole so deep there was no hope of climbing out with any acceptable outcome i said "in the ******* your driving it would be" With no further conversation he simply wrote up the paperwork Apart from the ear bashing the old girl gave me all the way home i have to say that it was much preferable to last year, same outcome but worth every second of the look on his face at our first interaction.

I think if we got 35 demerit points ... we'd get the death penalty (if we had one)

2-4 is the norm for a traffic ticket ... 6 you get a licence suspension on the spot in NSW.
So if getting done for 3 points in Double Demerit points times (like right now in Xmas Holiday periods) ... say goodbye to your licence.

But to put that in perspective ... we can only accrue 13 points (used to be 12) as an unrestricted C-class motorist (as you start off with zero) ... that's NSW

Close but no cigar. 6 points does not mean a suspension on the spot.
over 45 over the limit is $2306, 6 points plus 6 months suspension. The police have the discretion to take your license on the spot.
Getting 6 points in double demerits does not cause a suspension unless your points are exceeded.

30 over, but under 45 over gets you 3 month suspension

And for the trifecta wrong again.

At 13 points your license gets suspended for three months.

You can only accrue 12 points max and keep your driving privilege at 13 points you no longer have a driving privilege.

I was putting it perspective with 98TLS ... as he mentioned they are allowed 100 points ... so i suspect at the 100th point ... they lose there's as well ... like we lose ours on the 13th.

Your anger would be better directed at the people who write the laws such as your local MP or Transport Minister.

Fair call and an expected reply but as an avid motorcyclist here in NZ ive seen thousands gather and direct there anger and dis-belief at rego costs to our transport minister with no acceptable outcome...no chance of him taking any notice of me complaining about our utterly ridiculous speed limit.

It's probably more the bodies they help drag out of the cars than any official line.

Not 35 mate. We only get 12 to play with. I think getting caught talking on the phone takes 6 points. We are on double demerits through the holidays. So that offence would loose your licence. You are a bad man.

We get 100 to start..problem being when you get pinged it lasts for 2 years so currently sitting on 70 until next Christmas. Bad start to the year as in the next few months the bike comes out though at least on that anything under 140k seems slower than walking so if indeed your unfortunate enough to be noticed its a perfectly acceptable decision to take your chances, over here 140k + is instant loss of licence.

Jesus H 3 years..that harsh.Bloody odd system here,if some **** breaks into your house and removes anything they take a fancy to its a 50/50 call as to wether someone will turn up in a week let alone ever to try and help out but theres an army of otherwise unemployable dropkicks to **** you off whilst simply transporting yourself from one place to another.

What are the odds ? pretty good I'd say.

You're an egg for speeding at this time of year, you know the tolerance is reduced and there is going to be heaps of them about, cruise control is your friend.

If your going to drive over the 10 km/h tolerance you should own a radar detector, I have one but at this time of year I just stick to the 104 km/h tolerance (unless overtaking).

Yea your right but hey you take your chances, most of the time no problem. Some interesting replies in this thread,"abusing the people put in place to police our roads" not at all just couldnt be bothered sitting in the car listening to a rehearsed speech on road safety. To the bloke worried about putting his daughter on the same roads as me to be fair i have far more to be worried about than her if the standard of her driving is the same as many of the young ones given a licence here.As for "the road isnt my personal racetrack jesus i was doing 127k on basically a back road in perfect driving conditions with little traffic either way... to cover an entire countries roads regardless of there nature in a 100kph speed limit was years ago and still is utterly ridiculous then when there at peak flow lower the tolerance to 4 k As was shown here most speedos are out by more than 4k to start with.As i said earlier you take your chances most of the time you win then some you dont...

To be fair you were going faster than that, you said you hit the brakes and bled off some speed

I'm with you on that, but you have to wise up with how and when you do it and if you get caught be polite and cop it on the chin.
