Default what about this car???

I know it isnt a FORD BUT.....

the new hyundai SONATA... seen lots of adds, decided to take a look at one..
i think they are nice, the V6 version has 172KW (f/w drive) 3.3L.
only $33,000

has anyone driven one, or know much more about this car?

please share your thoughts.

almost looks subaru-ish

im very impressed by this car as well. the hyundai website doesnt even have it up yet its that new.
from what ive read and seen it certainly packs alot of features and actually looks good too.
if i was looking for a new car i would definately be having a look at this one even though it is only front wheel drive.

well there you go. i looked not even 2 days ago and it didnt have the new Sonata at all.
all Hyundai need is an AWD platform and they would really kick off!
best thing is that these cars are gonna be soooooo cheap in 3 years time!

I see a hint of former Mazda 626 in the roof-line...

by the looks hyundai has scrapped its designers, and taken design ques from other makes that work..... and designed a very good looking car.

you can clearly see the holden-esque headlights but the rear looks nothing like the accord euro, does look like the regular accord though

Very Lexus-like at the front, and Camry/Avalon-like at the back

Didn't I read somewhere that Hyundai were going to bring out RWD vehicles?

[EDIT: Looking at it again, it looks damn-near identical to the IS300...]

They said on Top Gear a few weeks ago that the next Tiburon would be RWD.

Sounds like Hyundai is having a big go at improving their product. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

if they do it would be a good thing, but i serously doubt it.
front wheel drive seriously cuts production costs, and for a company like hyundai, cutting production costs would be a huge thing

It's a bitsa car - Mazda 626 mid section, Commodore front, Accord USA rear.

Hyundai are learning how to build cars, although styling them is something they are yet to master. They are still copying Euro and Japanese designs.

Then again, that's how Japan started - by building Euro cars under licence.

The Chinese are doing it too, but who needs licences over there! hehe

Korea is becoming a major player in the world automotive market simply because they can now build a reliable car that doesn't look like it's had its panels fashioned out with the ugly hammer.

I'm pretty impressed with the look of it. I actually said "wow" when i saw it on tv last night.
Still hyundai build quality though.
Good luck to them & Mitsubishi with their new models.
More & more competition is good for the buyer.

Read a carsguide review about this - performance figures for the auto:

0-100 in 7.7 secs
400m in 15.6s

Thats enough to knock off NA XR6's and SV6's (auto's) and its not even aimed at being that sort of car AND is almost $10K cheaper AND uses less fuel than a Camry :

I'd still take the XR6 or SV6 though, the styling dosn't do it for me.

not as pretty IMHO as the domestics, especially the interior(dash? eeeeeewww) but its there best effort yet... korea ... the new japan. i said that when the second generation excel came out... watch the koreans. they started out like the japenese in the 60's and 70's building quirky cars and look at them now...

ps... the end of the world is nigh...JK

Guys I think hyundai are going to be huge in 10 or so years. And mention of a RWD Tibrion is interesting indeed.

I think it looks great; not very original but still good. I haven't seen the car up close, I wonder what the engine NVH etc etc and interior plastics are like.

i agree, it looks good but only because it has so many styling cues from other brands/models.

its still a Hyundai

Not too bad.. though it is a Hyundai.

Plenty cheap but the resale on any Hyundi SUCKS. The depreciate incredibly quicly.
