Thought two things when I saw it...Celica, and 350Z.

Not my kind of car, but should look good and will sell well.

They're going to be here in '09 apparently, it'll be interesting to see the effect a new global sales initiative will have on it's reputation outside of the typical Japanese racer crowd...

and why do people call this a godzilla???????
godzilla is ONLY the r 32 gtr made from 1989 to 1994 all others are just gtr's
the expression came from a motor magazine journo in his writeup about the japanese monster (gtr) killing everything on the race track

Well, actually, the journo's themselves (and it was a Wheels writer who penned the term "godzilla") continue it along - and this thing is on the same level as the R32 for it's time - the 33's were a waste IMO and the 34's were getting back on the right track, but this thing..................... holy cow !!!!!

Thats pretty impressive, Are those times quoted the $80kUS model? Because anything under $100kAU that can do that is amazing.

$100K is about right at the current exchange rate... but everyone knows we get shafted on car prices. Especially European cars.

Front doesn't look aggressive enough, though this car is going to blow away many high dollar cars. It's Bang for Buck.

Well here the base model will be well over 100k to the range topping EVO Spec at approx $AUD200k. I think the times come from the EVO spec model.
It will have more power and less weight than the base model. I think that will be the one everyone will be after.

Looks pretty ugly kind of like a 350z on steroids.

Are they making any profit off it at that price??

Any comparison with Falcon is irrelevant this is a purpose built race car. I wonder when we get the regular skyline???

There isn't going to be a regular skyline, this is it. It's now called the Nissan GT-R, no mention of skyline. We may get those farts Infinity G35 etc.

Uh... they still make a regular Skyline. Its not "now called the Nissan GT-R." The V35 Skyline has been in production since 2001 (R34's replacement) and is sold in the US as the Infiniti G35. By the time the new GT-R comes out, the V36 Skyline should be out too.

I dont think ugly is right. More conservative IMO. Nissan knows/knew that it will sell like no tomorrow, they could have gone a bit more contemporary.

Example: the Audi R8 looks like it would eat your, spit you out and cast you remains aside. The GTR would ask if its ok before hand, clean you up, slice you into perfect pieces of Sashimi and then thank your soul for the honorable meal it just enjoyed.
