Picked up an au2 futura grandpa spec with a genuine 98000ks on it with books a couple of weeks ago. Was time to move on from old ef I had been driving, 330000 kms and still going strong.. Anyway...
So since I bought it started doing a few things to it like replacing coolant front wheel hubs and just had the windows tinted. Still got a few other things to to but they can wait. Now here's the thing. There seems to be a lot of wind noise which mainly appears to be coming from the front windscreen, well at least I think it is. The car also has ford factory visors on both front doors. I've replaced the wiper arms back to the standard type as it had the Ve commodore type fitted. Made a slight difference but it's still pretty noisy. I had an au xr6 vct some time ago and I don't remember it ever being as noisy. It didn't have visors so I'm starting to think that they could be the issue. I've had a good look at the rubbers around the screen and the doors and all appear in pretty good nik. So what do u guys reckon

Door seals OK and the doors are tight? Anything caught in the aircon inlets?

My AU2 produces some wind noise from the front window/door frame, where it butts up against the windscreen "A" pillar.
The rubber door seals have collapsed a bit though due to age. (very soft rubber) |

UK. Was planning to remove the plastic cover under the wipers to give it a clean. Hadnt thought of that. Theres probably a fair build up of crudd that could be causing it. All the door seals appear in good nik.
Mik.. Cheers for that Tas.. Nah they look alright.

i went for a run today, yes a tiny bit of wind noise coming from the weather strip on the door frame above my boof head, (non on the passenger side),
i did also notice a bit of movement in the door as i was going over undulations on the hume highway , the movement appeared to be at the lock , probably because the weather strip is a bit compressed with old age, or a bit is worn out of the lock mechanism or a combo of both, i reckon pulling the door lock striker in a tad might do the job . to do this run a bit of texta around the striker for a reference point , then loosen the screws and move it striker in about a mm at a time, retighten and test , it would not need much at all i dont think. |
