Default 40-42" TV choices!?

Long story short, since updating to version 2.51 my PlayStation 4 no longer communicates with my 42" Toshiba Regza that is about 7ish years old.

I have a budget of about $500 , and need a TV that my PS4 will communicate with. I want the best quality for my $ and my wife does not want to go lower than 40", or bigger than 42"

Any advice folks ?

You may have to spend a little more than your budget for 40 - 42" set.

For example,

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-en...lcd-tv/540124/

If you can wait a few weeks, you may pick up a bargain with EOFY around the corner.

This...

Wait until JB Hi Fi or someone like that says EOFY now on, walk in with the $500, pick out a TV and say I have the cash burning a hole in my pocket and I want that TV.

You'd be surprised.

I have run a Kogan 42 inch 3D TV for three years, runs the kids PS4 with updates no issue. Playing Need for Speed series in 3D is interesting.

I would be personally looking as to why it stopped working with your current tv. A software update shouldnt really stop it working with ANY tv and you may find it wont work with your new one.

I could be completely wrong though!

Took my PS4 to my mums place to try it on her TV, works fine

Something to do with the USB Handshake between the PS4 and the Toshiba brand I have, so google tells me. Apparently the update from 2.50 to 2.51 was supposed to fix it, buuut not with my TV....

Try hooking up your TV again at your Mum's, go into settings and disable HDCP.

If you don't care about brand, Kogan is selling a 50" LED TV for just under $500 at the moment:

Long shot but tech help at Sony? Sounds very stupid that they have put in an update that is going to **** off a lot of customers.

Sony sent me 3 "Reconditioned" PS4 units, then they sent me a brand new one. safe to say their troubleshooting is not as good as it could be.. I asked the guy on the phone, while I was updating my latest PS4.. "Are there any issues with Toshibas and PS4 firmware?" He replied "2.51 should fix it with most TV's" ... After much google... I'm not the only one having issues with my model of TV and not communicating with the PS4..

Worked fine until 2.5 update :(

Aldi had a 50" 4K TV early last month for $599, bought one for the outlaws and the thing is mint, for the money and in general. Might be worth a look around the various Aldi's in your area in case they still have one floating about.

I would be getting sony to fix the issue you shouldnt have to fork out for a tv because it doesnt work.

PC MASTER RACE!!

Yeah I'm a big PC fanboy too but the problem is all my mates play on PS3/PS4 so there is no point just buying stuff on PC, and not being able to play with friends :(

Thats the only reason I'm on consoles to be honest, otherwise PC all the way.

Whats everyone's PSN's?

PS3 - TheFiveOh
PS4 - FrancoCozzo1935

I was once a console king. After the transition to PC I've never looked back.

I had everything from an Atari to Sega. But I remember loving my PS1. I used to play a game called 'Command and Conquer'. Once I found out that I could play it on-line...well that's when I made the change. I was a Boss at that game. So just before playing my first opponent I was thinking to myself that I would obliterate him. Within about 10 minutes, my base looked like a Horde of Vikings on Viagra had been through it. I've since discovered hot-keys and binds.

I still play Battlefront 2 on my laptop ;) Hook it up to an independent screen on my desk and go crazy in Hoth

Back on topic, I cant seem to find reasonable review websites for some of the weirder TV names out there, in saying that, JVC appear to not have a good reputation anymore for making TV's... Soniq, Palsonic, LG, Kogan, Dick Smith brand... Man my head is spinning :(

XRSIKS, before laying down cash on a TV ask the store to hook up a PS4 to ensure it meets your needs.
