Default VFACTS Oct 2018

https://www.caradvice.com.au/699508/...vehicle-sales/

Nothing much out of the ordinary this month.

Ford Numbers -
EcoSport 101
Escape 293
Everest 369
Falcon 1
Fiesta 4
Focus 104
Mondeo 193
Mustang 569
Ranger 4x2 417
Ranger 4x4 3094
Transit 217

Just wish Ford would push harder with Ranger 4x2. I know they don't want to peruse lower profit models but I feel there is great value in having the Number One bragging wrights.

That 1 x Falcon must have been the unregistered Sprint which was found and sold last month.

Commodore 663
Equinox 300

Focus is in run out (104) so hopefully the new model is here early next year and Escape after that.
Looking like those two will be more like Mazda 3 and CX-5 ...hopefully the sales will be similar.
At least Ford isn't sitting on a mountain of stock...

From the time I started this response, the number of new VFIIs went from 15 to 13
maybe they are old ads taking a while to be withdrawn...

(The only accurate way would be to ask a dealer to look up how many are still available)

The scary thing is as woeful as Holden is right now.
They were only 106 vehicles in sales behind Ford for the month.

Many of those will be SA Police units plus hire fleets would now be replacing the VF.

Like many here I have yet to see a ZB although I did think I may have saw one a few months ago but not confirmed as it could have been anything as it didn't stand out.

Their problem is the public aren't buying them in decent numbers to the extent Holden recently cancelled production as there holding paddocks are full.

Don't forget, Holden is doing backflips at the moment with lots of good deals....they have to.

They are absolutely cutting the guts out of the price in shear desperation just to move all the piles of stock they have. Profit margins must be razor thin.

The resale values must be putrid too.

Tbh for all the criticism of Holden's sales ATM, deals or no deals that's not a terrible number given how many rangers sell ATM.
Yes I get the hunting profit idea ford is running ATM by aiming for higher profit models, but that gap shows how much ford relies on ranger ATM, what's fords next best model, mustang at 550 something numbers?

I just hope ford management here don't fall into the trap as time goes on with ranger and become vain enough to think that it's ranger, it will sell and that they keep improving it and not just minor tweaks here and there.

Does anyone have the monthly breakup of models sold by ford and holden?

This is where the benefit of an internationally sold model helps. With US now about to start sales the model update/upgrade path has to be maintained like Mustang.

To a point maybe, but I don't fully agree, if that were 100 percent true, would we not benefit from all the options that the us mustang has in Australia?

Ford has some new product coming out so it's not all doom and gloom.

Has the Acadia been released yet? And if so how has it sold?

That should be fair enough however I'm not sure, what role/hindrance if any, our ADR requirements have in this case...tbh (as I've repeated before and hope is changed one day) it's our ADR's and the cost of compliance of a car locally for all the possible variants that holds us back to an extent as consumers for choice, plus not all things for Mustang are designed for a RHD install iirc. It should be "if it passes EU or US or Japanese regs" then maybe it should be good enough for us...unless there is something that is just not safe enough which I cannot see existing.

This.
Since ending local production of Commodore and Cruze,
Holden has seen a massive reversal of fortunes,

The once mighty Holden is now taking refuge in mediocre sales
that are better than Ford's pathetic offerings but the elephant
in the room remains, they have no local sales champion anymore.

Why does the blue line representing Ranger 4x4 on the graph stop well short of the current month?

Fixed. As sales didn't start until Nov 06 and the chart starts at Jan 06, the field has to actually have a zero in it rather than being blank. Has been that way for awhile.

Cheers

Thanks Russ.

Its interesting when you look at Ranger sales following Fords manufacturing closure in Australia, numbers dropped considerably over the following months and took 12 months before they rebounded to the same point as pre closure, would it be fair to assume this was due to people buying up the last locally made products and not the imports for those 12 months.

Now look at Commodore sales, they had a significant boost in sales in the month leading up to closure which could be attributed to people getting in before it was too late, then a significant drop until ZB came online and whilst i dont expect they'll ever reach the heights of locally built versions again, the ZB has stabilised in the short term.

As we are now at 12 months since closure for Holden, the same time it took people to pull out their wallets again for Ranger post closure, will we see an increase in ZB sales over the next 6 to 12 months as people look to move on from their then very used VF2's?

Highly doubt it. ZB is unloved. Even Holden die hards hate the thing with a passion, cause it just ain't a Commodore, and it drives the wrong wheels with the wrong engine.

Only thing helping it move stock is the prices have been slashed to the bone in desperation to clear stock, and getting some fleet deals. All low profit sales.

No, I doubt that's the case because when you compare Ranger versus Hilux the 4x4 sales
the peaks and trough of both are very close so maybe something else was going on with
retail and fleet sales......

don't forget resources boom collapsed in 2015/2016 and didn't start to recover until late last year.
