Cheers mate! Good to watch those vids. That greens XE was just tuff as. I watched the video that was in response to that one as well and showed brocky and dick talking about it and showed the team changing the number 9 over night, haven't seen that video in a while. Much better days of racing IMO.

I agree, I was only thinking the other day when watching the V8's racing that it was very clinical and boring. All the cars are within thousands of a second of each other and just go around the track in a freight train.
One of the joys of being older was being around to watch these fantastic true muscle cars hammer it out.
How good was it watching Brocky in an XU1 battling with GT's.

It is a pity that there is NOT a similar category out there today.
What I mean is how cool would it be to have a formula that encouraged big displacement thumper motors (as against high reving overstressed sewing machines) with wide rubber (could limit traction by requiring 'spec' grooved street tyre) along with basic 'street registration approved' bodywork.
Sure the speeds may NOT be as great, but I would be VERY suprised if the racing wouldn't be just as close, and it WOULD make for more interesting racing. Rather then the 'sterile' make a mistake and you're out type racing that the V8SC series has become.
At the end of the day spectators want entertainment, that they'll remember. Tis extremely rare these days to see a v8sc with the tail hanging out there in a controlled prolonged slide (unless of course it ends up into a tyrewall). There's more to car control then outright speed. With the group C's you could see it in the car. In V8's the only way of telling is by laptimes unfortunately.

If you blokes want to hear the sweet sound of a race clevo at full noise, then get yourselves to any of the Historic meetings when the Group C cars are running.
I've given up on the V8 Supercars to go and see these instead, and I can't reccommend them highly enough.
They are the real deal, the original cars as raced back in their glory days.

There's nowhere near the crowds, and you can get quite up close and personal with the cars within reason.

There's good representation from all classes, with more cars coming all the time.

You won't regret it! http://www.groupc.com.au/
