Good morning
As we have now had two early morning server issues on Monday mornings we will be performing destructive tests on the server this evening at 2300 hours (11 p.m) - as the aim of the test is to replicate the server crash I would expect the server to be unavailabe for a short period between 11p.m and midnight. Regards Russ

Cheers Russ

To me the site is just not working at all each or most evening, for example tonight it seems to have crashed from about 9 pm to 9.40pm, when it came back on line.
Its not my server or anything as all other websites are available and working. |

We have made some changes we hope will help short term, and have some new hardware on the way to avoid this silliness. Seems once again the site has outgrown the hardware. |

Some of you may have noted two failures in the server this morning - one at 0835 and another at 0920 both for short durations.
We had been convinced for the last few weeks that the series of unexplained outages were the result of a hardware failure (specifically memory) but had been unable to prove that this was the case to the satisfaction of the hosting company. Thankfully, the second failure this morning coincided with one of their techs being logged in and he thus was able to identify that the root cause of the outage was an attempt by the kernel to access a segment of bad memory - in this case one faulty stick that meant it only had 75% of the available memory capacity. As a result we will take the server down later today to replace the RAM and hopefully that will resolve the current issues. Regards Russ

The RAM replacement will be performed today at 4.30 pm our time. I would expect the outage to be no more than 20 minutes.
Regards Russ
