Default Favourite HOLDEN

OK guys we all love our Fords, but come on some Holdens did look the part, especially in the 70s, whats your favourite Holden, and come on we all know we have a soft spot for one model or another for the oppositions cars..oh by the way mine would have to be the HK 327 Monaro in blue. Sleek purposefull and had a decent engine, even though it still had hubcaps!

anyone that feels the need to bad mouth Holdens, knock Holdens or think they are smart because they hate Holdens or their drivers, can stay out of this thread.

Ageed, though I liked all the early 2 door monaros, just not the last 4 door ones even though most of 'em were built before I was even born.

A classic is a classic no matter the badge on the bonnet.

Maybe I was unlucky but my VH SLX 253 4 speed sedan (1986-1989) and my VX SS manual sedan (2004-2006) were pieces of junk and I will never stray to the dark side again.

Of course, any yellow first series Monaro looks the goods....

Amongst a lot of great cars, (IMHO) I reckon that the EH and the HR were 2 examples of landmark models. A bit like (IMHO), The XY and the XF Fords.

Also those HK-HG Monaros 307/327/350/308, particularly in the hands of someone like Norm Beechey.

All in all, there really was some great Holden models! But apart from some stand-out similar favourites (e.g: GTR-XU1, Monaros, Broughams, HSV's, etc, etc), beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
e.g: the Force 8 & the Grange, and the Force 6 & the Senator!?, etc.

I like the HG to HK, came very close to buying a HK monaro 327 for about $3000 back in late 80's from a mate. Damn I wish I said yes!!!
Have a thing for EJ EH also, maybe cause my grandfather had some

there were a few that appealed, but i think my favourite was the Monaro LE. There was something about that car that used to really appeal to me.

Unless the people servicing it blow the engine up...the old man's first car...a
'65 Special.

So he had to sell the car (less an engine) and bought a Corona.

He is still annoyed to this day about what happened to it.

Also the WH2 Statesman are the best of the modern cars in my opinion, just alot of class about em.

Wouldnt mind A9X or a LX SS hatch.

I would have to say the LE monaro coupe goes close, followed by the SLR 5000 , then the torana XU1, so many to choose from.

I had one of these, was the last of the 4 Door Monaro's & had the Chrome Jag like Spoke Rims although I Fitted Mine with Dragways

I also had a HK 327 in silver mink, a 4 Door HQ GTS 308 Manual & a EH.

Fave for me would be the HQ as that was my First V8 (I was 17) & it was the mustard Yellow with Black Stripes with a Highly Modded 5 Litre which I had done.

Had a 3.55 Diff Ratio from memory & it had Fantastic Performance

If I had to pick a more Modern version that I could not afford at the time would have been the Brock VL SS Group A in Red

The 1998 'VT' Commodore Coupe concept. The Monaro did it no justice.
