Thumbs down Holden are confused - r they Aussie?

I was examining a Holden Captiva the other day and it struck me. Holden is a subsidary of American GM, their logo is an African animal and the Captiva is Korean. : And Holden's V8s are Yankee-sourced.

Its about time Holden ditched the lion, that comes from British Empire days which are long gone.

Any patriotic Aussie should be driving a Territory.

(Admittedly our beloved 4.0L six is about to be replaced by the US duratec, but I thought Id get some mileage from this notion while I can)

The Holden propaganda machine is prett impressive. Anyone recall Lowndes & p.Rick on the quiz show when CL asked "how much Commodore is Australian?"

Ford have never ridden their Australian content, they just seem to be muppets.

Correction, European Duratec. Duratec engine comes from Ford of Europe, borrowed by Ford US and Ford AU.

The history of Holden is certainly Australian; the Australian content these days for total Holden sales would be in the lower 1/4, I'd reckon. Holden is a subsidiary of GM-US, whereas Ford is a US company; Ford Oz is just an outpost of the US company.

So, Yes, Holden as a company are probably more Australian than Ford Oz, but the Falcon has more local content than the Commodore, but both are dropping local content as a % of overall sales as their small/mid imports take up the sales slack from the reduction in the large car market.

I suppose that at least they still circle the problem though (Holden that is; refer to badge). :
