The drive video claims that the first 90 have already been sold. And HSV can only make around 6 a week, so it would be a long wait!
Not bad at all if true. http://www.drive.com.au/ Wonder if metallic paint is still $300 more lol |

At least it has paved the way for FPV to possibly follow their lead with something special. FPV would be too scared to ask for that sort of money on one of their cars without having someone else testing the waters.

by announcing how FPV's "halo" car wouldn't sell for anything near that. He's working off a budget, limiting this "HO's" engineering content, and not showing any faith in FG's superiority to VE. In other words he is saying a VE can be worth 155 but not an FG. He's silly as this W has just proven it can sell for what he thinks is too much to pay, thus putting himself in a corner. Guys, regardless of what you think about it's "over-the-top" pricing, HSV have proven (so far) to have made the correct move. It is selling. End of story. As CSV_LS1 has stated, it's also paved the way for FPV to deliver the same... to a degree.

Good effort to get them off the ground. The red boys have the bragging rights now.
Lets hope Top Gear get hold of a Vauxhall 427 to thrash, it should give the euros a hurry up. |

Only a matter of time now before thousands of Omegas are transformed into 'W' replicas with aftermarket repro bodykits and sold to owners trading in their VT Execs with Clubby kits and Munro tail lights.

I appreciate good car's no matter what badge and this one fits the bill and them some. Top stuff. : Quote:
At least HSV have made it available to the punters and now for people that choose to spend that on a car they have a choice of Aussie muscle or Euro prestige/refiement. Choice is a good thing :

Think of it this way - Ford supporter 1st, Australian 2nd.
Yes, this is a car that even I can go overseas and say 'That was made in my country'. And think about it. If Holden can mount a strong business case for a $155k hi-po car, that will open the eyes of the guys-n-gals trying to make a valid business case for a revived GTHO. And we know they've been trying and trying and trying to get one across the line. Queue endless incessant ranting debate about what a GTHO should actually be..... Lukeyson

For all that power the 0-100 time seems disappointing :(
A 6L VZ clubby is like 0-100 in 5.5. Great car, but I don't think its worth 155k, almost get a Lambo for that

If people are stupid enough to pay that sort of money for a souped up Commodore, let them. What’s that old saying… a fool and their money are soon parted?

being able to afford spending $155k on a car is not a sign of stupidity or foolishness. Only 427 of them are being made, so apart from the thrill. it may just be something that j curves into a handy profit down the track. |

Not a risk I'd be willing to take. Is it just me or do people on this forum hate Holdens just for being Holdens. Fair enough if you have good reasons, but coming up with reasons just because it's a Holden is pathetic. Give credit where it's due. It's an awesome car, that people are more than willing to pay $155k for. Isn't that what determines the price of a car? I couldn't sell my stockish XR8 for $100k, because people aren't willing to pay it. The amount of cash someone is willing to fork over, determines the value of the car or the value of the USD for that matter. For all the people going on about the stupid price, I personally find the GTHO price much more ridiculous. But fair enough if people are willing to pay it, that's what it must be valued at. Nice job by Holden. It would be great if Ford had a rhetort to it. It would be in this true competitive spirit that the quality of automobiles in this country are improved. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE |

Good on Holden to have the balls to do it .... very risky and looks like they will pull it off. Best thing to come out of this will be FORDS counterpunch (PLEASE Ford ) Here hoping!

Yep, dont like it because of what it is, not caring how great it may be. Would love to drive one but never would I own one. Its a Holden! Because of that fact, I will not be told to like it because I should? I will only respect what they have had the guts to do and force the oppostion to get off there bum! Cant wait to see the first VT with a W427 plastic bits applied with cable ties. | [/url] |

I see faces. You may see a vase. That doesn't make you wrong. That said, I think you're vastly cheating yourself of a huge amount. My last car was a Holden, now it's a Ford. It doesn't bother me at all. I would personally choose the better car, regardless of its badge. Yeah, that's right. I would quite happily buy the better car, without any prejudice. I think it's stupid to identify with Holden/Ford and let the name dictate your choices. They couldn't care less about you, yet you'd be willing to accept a suboptimal choice out of this one sided loyalty. I know not everyone feels this way, but no-one has to. I just think that view is ridiculous. There are much better things to identify with, than a car manufacturer. |
