Write off, it’s only a civic (or accord)...
Much misinformation but... A write off is determined but either the cost (most likely every day situation) this comes in to affect before a car is deemed to unsafe as the parts and labour add up. Bent rails/chassis wont write off a car, it's amazing how often the are bent in an accident and repaired, safely. The methods used (buy trusted shops, not dodgy shops) are reliable, most shops have good spot welders that meet factory specs. Every manufacturer has methods and recommendations on how to repair their cars. When that car was new, and was insured for a good amount it would have been repaired.

Yeah it would need a new rear quarter, rear door, glass, lights etc & suspension at the least.

dude that car should not be put back on the road. there could be hidden structural looking from that angle + i'd say the repairs would be way more than it's worth

seriously though depends on the quotes to fix or some certain criteria to make it a stat writeoff or economical writeoff

dont start dissing AAMI.. through work we repair cars insured by AAMI. and probably depends on how much the car is insured for. we had a proton that before it could be written off the quote had to go over 20k.

The only way that would be a write off is a "financial write off" because its obviously a few years old now so its not worth much now and labor is EXPENSIVE

I'd be lying if I answered "no".
As said, unless you want to fork out tonnes, write it off. |

insurance comany will say yes but i'm still un decided.
my "written off car"'s insurance quote was for 13k. so far i've spent 5k and 2k on rims and have every single part for it. all i need is to put it back together and paint. probably 8-8.5k. that was a front end of the car with some small engine work. depends how dedicated you are how much time you have and how much money you have but dno :P |

considering someone has scraped my door in a car park and i am getting $1500 quotes, i'd definately agree that the car is a write-off.

Suspension arms
wheel Boot lid Rear door Window Quarter panel Tail light Rear valance Sill panel ? Internal boot panels and trim. Very expensive, plus it looks like the actual rear of the car has been misaligned - so the chassis will have to be pulled straight. Many insurance companies do not like to do that as the vehicle will not be safe afterwards - the crash zones have been altered by the cutting and welding. I would buy back the wreck if you wanted the bits you bought for it. The sell the wreck for whatever you can get for it- or auction it like the insurance company would do.

It's dead, no chance that will get repaired.
But what the hell happened? I hope everyone was alright.

Cheers for all of the responses, I will explain what happened now:
The car is not mine, nor was I driving at the time. I was a passenger in the rear right hand side (where the impact was most obvious). We basically got him by a tram in Melbourne's CBD. Nobody in the car seemed to see the tram, which seemed to come out of no where. The driver did a u-turn right in front of a "no u-turn" sign. : The Tram didn't even end up with a dent! We were lucky to walk away alive, with 5 passenger's in the car. The casualties were a broken nose for another passenger, and I sustained a wrist injury, which could possibly be fractured. One hell of a holiday! ing_sm

It's Kingsway in South Melbourne.
The car is only a write off if it is insured. |
