Default Yanks stole our Barra taillights..

2009 USDM Focus. These look familiar?

Look like a mix of BA/BF taillights with the clear FG highlights. Can't ford US come up with their own taillight designs, instead of copying a 6 yr old Aussie design : Pity the rest of the car looks crap.

Yeah they look familiar.

Mate they have been doing it for years.

They copied our WB Statesman too.

It was called a Cadillac over there.

Only heaps bigger.

And 5 years earlier.

I think he was being sarcastic as most of our cars are yank or euro rip-offs.

Yes, you are seeing things.

Last year Ford sold 196,000 of those "hideous" cars. It has a love it or hate it reception. It was designed on the previous US Focus chassis so redesign was limited. It was done to get a different looking Focus from the previous model, an outdated American revamp of an older Euro one.

Next model will be the lastest global redesign. Should be much better then.

God damn that Focus is ugly, or is it me. Then again our Focus aint much better.

And XR6Martin is dead right, the BA is a rip off from Audi.

Our BA looks 10x better than that Audi. And yes, the Focus is an absolutely terrible looking car with half decent BA taillight copies.

the audi lights look totally different.

anyone else realise the ba lights are ptetty much the au lights without the corners? more noticable at night

so the lights have been with the falcon for about 11 years now

Well the BA was a facelift of the AU so that makes sense to me.

That puts the Chinese to shame. What appalls me is that it looks horrible too.

XR6 Martin, you're right, BA's designer's did say they wanted an "Audi" look. But I must agree with Ross-b as well, the BA's rear lights do have some of the AU's rear lights in them. A bit of both I suppose, but importantly it looks coherent, unlike the US Focus.

The BA is the opposite of the AU - everything square on the AU has been rounded, everything round on the AU has been squared. Thats why the BA looks so pleasingly generically boring and the AU difficult to take by the straight-and-narrow person. As they say, only dead fish follow the stream.

i was defiantly talking about tail lights not the car, agreed tho.

i dont see the point of ur comment?

if you dont believe me get an au and a bf of the same dark colour at night turn on lights and try and spot the difference.

or as you pointed out (sorta) square up the round part of the au lights and u have ba. and there you have it the same basic tail light, 1 sound with a corner and one thats more square

we have been using F series tail lights in our utes for years so cant see the issue with lending them a set of sedan lights.
