Default brake dust deflectors help please

OK car is LV 09 XR5T - I want brake dust deflectors cause my rims look good for 30 seconds after I wash car then they look like crap (covered in brake dust) now I KNOW for a fact you can get brake dust deflector plates for Falcons my traded AU XR6 had them on it - asked @ Ford dealership I got car from about them - told "I will look into it and get back to you" just like he told me when I asked about the middle 3rd person seatbelt in the rear he didn't get back to me on that either - is there a p/n I can walk into spare parts and go I want XXXXXXXX and have them get hold of it for me washing the rims every day is ****ing me off - and what the hell the brake pads made of anyway cheddar cheese?

OK, a couple of things.

Firstly you have the leather pack = 4 seater, not 5 seater. The dealer should have told you that you lose the centre seat with the leather as the the rears turn into recaro buckets.

As with the brake dust deflectors, don't think you can get them with this car. I personally haven't had much problems with brake dust. I don't brake heavily though and i tend to use the engine to slow down too.

Seconded.

Your car is compliance plated as a four seater and legally cannot have a fifth passenger. Your dealer should know this. I suggest you pimp-slap them next time you're there, then take your car elsewhere.

I have never seen brake dust deflectors on a focus. Not to mention they're the automotive equivalent of a pocket protector.
Funnily enough, i don't have too much of an issue with brake dust. I mean it's there, but it's not bad.

When your pads wear out replace em with something like EBC red-stuff, even the green-stuff pads are a big improvement (a little pricey though, but bound to be competitive or even cheaper than genuine ford jobbies)
Oh and your brake rotors are only good for about 30-40,000 kms too. But don't worry, RDA slotted rotors are cheaper, better performing, longer lasting and CHEAPER than genuine ford rotors. You can't lose!.

it just annoys me greatly that the guy selling the thing knows less about it than some random nub on the street and he is selling the flippin thing he is the dealer for god sake and he knows SFA it really inspires confidence in the dealer don't it.......

I heard the RDA rotors are chinese and poor quality? And that DBA is the way to go, they are round $150 each i think for the slotted.

Did they give you the run down of all the features in the car when you picked it up? Strapp Ford in Doncaster gave me the works when it came to the car. They knew every single thing about it and even point out the little lever at the front of the drivers seat that lifts the front of the seat up and down.

he pointed to the stick paddle thing near the wheel that operates the stero and told me it was for the "cruise control" but busted a nut over the headlight switch :

oh you're kidding me right? That's disgraceful! I knew most features already because we have the Mondeo XR5 Turbo (obviously the Mondy has more stuff etc) but man, that's shocking. The paddle clearly says 'voice' and 'Vol' and 'Mode'. What's worse is that he said it was cruise control when the car doesn't even come with it!

I use a wheel protector aerosol which coats the wheel with a film to prevent brake dust build up. You can buy it at any car accessory shop.

Works a treat

I find that wiping the wheels with a dry cloth is pretty effective at removing the brake dust, but once you use water to remove the brake dust then it can get quite messy.

I had a alloy protector from Auto Glym, but it didn't work that great and made it an absolute pain to clean my XR5 wheels for a couple of months :(

basically mrba, the stock pads n rotors are perishable items, i.e they are NOT made to last.

When it comes time, if you change over to either a DBA rotor or EBC rotor or RDA whichever, as well as some EBC or bendix (etc) pads, you'll notice a lot better braking, as well as a lot less dust.

i usually just grab a soft brush that i have from back in the days of being able to wash my car at home and dust off the rims. I have a cleaning pad i use to reach in and clean the inside as well, keeping the inside and outside of the rims clean

Conquest-Tsi- RDA have come a long way in their quality, but I personally, would still go with DBA

Best place would be Race Brakes Sydney DragonMesh.

They are a site sponsor here, and Matt is a great bloke to deal with.
