390,047 kms before I replaced the front pads, rotors were fine on my BF Falcon ute. Mind you that's doing 600kms a day, 5 days a week. 686,000 and the rotors are still there.

Most of my Mondeo's driving is on Sydney's M4, M7 & M2 during peak hours.

All highway work and mainly engine braking except for the Roos, then the brakes get a workout and so does the Smart Bar.

Wow, some impressive numbers here. I'm still waiting to take delivery of my MC Mondeo, the last mondeo I owned I got 85,000km out of the original pads. The guy at the brake shop was pretty impressed. It was all city driving.

Just asked about petrol or diesel as the diesel trans is programmed to give engine braking. I expect the diesel to be much easier on the brakes - my petrol Mondeo would have needed new discs all round at its 60,000 km service.

Hah! When I got my XR5 serviced at NRMA motorserve in Artarmon they advised me the discs were well worn and would need to be changed at the next service. Now normally you would think a reputable mob would be upfront and honest, but no...
2 facts they did not look at when they decided to pull that stunt on me. The car was having it's 12mth service and had only done 6,500kms. What a lousy bunch of jokers. There was no way the brakes were worn that much, but if you didn't know better, they would steer a chump into changing discs at great expense. That was the first and last time I will take any car there.

Just had another service (125,000) and finally had to have the rear pads replaced (5% left) and the rear rotors machined.
Still 30% left on the front pads. Spark plugs ain't cheap at $30 each but can't complain as the rear pads, machining, an air cleaner filter and plugs are all that I've spent on parts and repairs in 3 years and 10 months (except for oil and filters, of course).
