Default Getting car facts wrong

Ok, have to share this story its an absolute crack up that Im sure heaps of people would be able to relate to.
A friend of mine is an absolute Holden Nut, but when it comes to his knowledge about Fords its not that great. Though Im the same when it comes to Holdens, Though if Im wrong, fair enough I dont really get into them. But when this raging baboon gets his Ford facts wrong its Hilarious.
If you say Ford Mercury Cougar. It makes his top blow. Though he might be technically correct I dont really know but I usually do it for S's and Giggles. It s a sure fire way to entertain your day.
Another classic is when we seen a XBGT sedan in Apollo Blue. He says to me I cant stand people that copy Phase 4 GTHOs. Only 4 HO's were ever made like that. (well at least he got one fact right. the quantity) And with the amount of Apollo Blue XBs that are out you can image how many times this gets repeated

I don't really get this thread, but there was only one phase 4 GTHO. The others were race cars and never had HO on the compliance plate.

I occasionally get to chat with some characters who had a mate owned a "special" car. Police specials with GTHO engines and whatnot. Always entertaining. At least they love their cars and want to chat, that's the important bit.

maybe your friend gets facts about fords wrong because he doesnt care about them.

i've thought a mate's toyota was a 1.6L only to be corrected that it was a 1.8L. did i care enough to actually research his car so i didn't make the mistake again? no.

just because you own or like a particular brand doesn't mean everyone else does.

i think you guys are missing the point and looking too much into it.

to me he just mentions certain facts to get a reaction out of his mate, and a laugh.

Plenty of Ford people don't have the facts right too. For example, how many GT replica utes and station wagons have been done? How can you have a replica of something that never existed?

They are out there...

I think the original intent of this thread was conservations with such and such about cars where you just lol'd. The classic misprint about the Falcon being a V6 is one example.

But to quote a fail I remember in high school was when one of my PE teachers bough a MY00 WRX. One of my mates asked 'Is that the turbo model' and the teachers reply was 'It's a WRX they are all turbo' Those that knew all lol'd

Let me get this right...
He's a Holden nut...and he's your friend ??

One thing about car enthusiasts... no matter what evidence you put in front of them, if they believe they are right NOTHING will change that...and yeah, we can be so easy to wind up.
