Chasing a few parts for a couple of different cars
Part 1 - EGR Valve for an '02 Ford Escape (same motor as a Mazda Tribute) EGR Valve @ Outer Eastern Suburbs Mazda Dealership - $181.95 (Packaged as Genuine Ford EGR Valve) EGR Valve @ Outer Eastern Suburbs Ford Dealership - $317.52 -Difference of $135.57 Part 2 - RHR BF Door Lock Actuator - Bayford Ford - $135.00 Same part at Outer Eastern Suburbs Ford Dealership (once again shall remain nameless) - $232.00 -Difference of $97.00 Both of these parts were IDENTICLE My question - Why such a HUGE difference in price? Last edited by Auslandau; 03-09-2012 at 07:37 PM. Reason: Better title! |

Looking to bait and land some massive catches with your thread title?
This is just one of a small part of many decisions made that has seemingly doomed local manufacturing. -and hardly a sole reason for Ford going belly up. When identicle items are sold no matter what nature they are.. cloathes ,electrical, goods and sevices.. it's expected the consumer will shop around and only a fool would pay the higher prices for iidenticle items. |

ok, thread title has now changed,
Pretty sure spare parts differ hugely between dealers. Ford/Mazda may be similair/identicle but can charge whatever they want. -You choose whether you want to pay the lower or higher prices and let the loser of your $ suffer. |

I often wondered about parts price differences between badged engineered cars, especially the ssangyong stuff with the Merc running gear.
This thread just highlights the savings you can find by shopping around.

Don't know what the title had to do with it though ...... changed to a better title to reflect the discussion.

i have noticed some people behind the counter charge full price, others trade price from the same shop. i suspect it`s the same at many parts shops.

I've all but given up on getting parts through the dealerships - Much cheaper to purchase online, delivered to your door n it's all genuine gear too
