The Australian car buying public disgust me.
Farewell to this once great nation, as it is well and truly going to the dogs. |

keen to see Focus numbers we added 1 to those in March
Good to see Ranger selling strong. Well deserved. Also good to see Mazda 3 continuing to outsell the Corolla.

At least Camry (locally-made) did well.
I'm guessing 700-800 for Falcon and MAYBE 1000 for Territory. I did not see a new one of either on the road during March (based on number plate sequence). |

The Japanese cars are doing well, the Japanese government and central bank are pumping billions into devaluing the Yen, which is making their vehicle exports a lot cheaper.
I think Honda is thinking of sourcing some of their vehicle for Australia from Japan rather than Thailand. |

The sales figures represent NSW and Qld buying 4 cylinders a lot more in their fleets i suspect. |

The pulsar continues to surprise me. It is amazing what deference changing a name can do. Did the Nida ever sell anything close to these numbers? Brand power & what it can do for sales!!!
And has Holden showing us the next Commdore been a very costly mistake by Holden? Will that change Ford's mind about showing 2014 Falcon early??? |

Nissan would be selling Pulsar to the rental market by the boat load. If Ford wants to be competitive they need more ranger stock. Perhaps they should have turn broad meadows into a Ranger / Focus line. Supply in today's market is key to success. Toyota prove this over and over. No point in building the best cars of nearly every segment if you can't supply them. I feel sorry for Ford dealers!

Fact. Toyota does the same with Corrolla.

No it wouldn't. They couldn't get enough supply of it to be a top seller.

So, then what happened to all those Commodore and Cruze sales that were 'carried over' into March 2013? Ouch, between Commodore and Cruze, GMHolden sales are down what 2,000 or more a month for 2 months? Not good for the local producers. I wish we were making Ranger/Everest here in Australia.

This is a terrible time for Holden dealers but IMO, Holden should be offering strong discounts right up to VF to shift the last of the VEs. |

I called it BS at the time. I think it is more like the dealers went either individually or collectively, no we're not going to take all of those superseded or about to be superseded VE's and Cruze's. A great mate of mine worked for a large GMH dealership for 5 years until recently and he talked about how the dealership was always being forced to take Commodores despite being hard to shift. I know it is not uncommon for GMHolden to lie to the media / public. But their 'reasoning' for low February sales have proven to be a farce. Those 'sales' that didn't make it through should have definitely been processed in March. If they are just being built for export or for launch, then why lie? Why blame I.T.? It's a downbeat situation for the locals at the moment, I hope it turns around.

Which makes me think all the 6.0 allocations are being built as VF's for export. VF goes on sale here in June so production must start soon.

You are talking 10+ seconds to 100. People get the urge of torque and "feel" like the are going fast, but in actual fact they are slow and cumbersome. Most don't even get used as a "ute". They are simply the new wang comparison device.

this. a lot of "suits with utes" now days. especially duel cab styleside things. its a trend at the moment. while some are used for work. most are traybacks that see work. how many styleside utes do you see now with big 20" rims and not a scratch in the load compartment?? I don't see the point of having a ute if your not going too use it as a ute. I use mine as a ute alot

Mine is 8.5 0-100 (Navara 550 ) , I do accept your point and I was of the same opinion until recently. What I found though the ute is extremely practical ( with separate space for dogs , bikes etc) , great towing performance , fuel economy is under 9l per 100 and performance is more than acceptable. In my other (much faster) car I get frustrated and annoyed by slow traffic while driving a Navara is relaxing experience. Not too mention curbs and potholes are non issue and as our recent off road adventure proved it to be good on corrugations and gravel roads. I would drive it much more is I could wrestle the keys off my better half..
