Kathleen Donaghey, Sarah Orr The Courier-Mail October 04, 2014 2:13PM "ASHTON Wood bought a $49,000 Jeep - and hated it so much he demolished it. Stuck with a “lemon” that Fiat Chrysler won’t refund or replace, the Wood family today staged a protest by smashing, burning and destroying the car. Starting tentatively, they ripped out seats and shot arrows to deflate the tyres. As the destruction ramped up, the windows were shattered with crowbars and the doors ripped off. CAMPAIGN: He bought a Jeep and then his life turned to hell Then it was time to bring out the heavy machinery. Angle grinders cut off the roof before a 35 tonne excavator ripped out the engine and dashboard."

Seems it wasn't enough to put them off Fords though. Those plates on the XR6T now come up as being on an '06 Territory according to the NSW RMS app.

I don't understand why auto companies are different. If I spend 10 grand on a big screen TV and it's faulty I either get a refund or replacement as I am entitled to under law. But if I spend 15 grand on a new buzz box and it's faulty I'm stuck with it. This is wrong and auto companies should be held to account for shoddy work. We don't need lemon laws, we just need our existing consumer laws to apply to cars...

My boss bought a new kia as a runaround for our work it was the biggest heap ever always going in for warranty work clutch blew at 20k wasn't driver error eithr the pressure plate cracked in half. This was 10 years ago and then a mates mrs bought one last year said that KIA'S are good now etc... well she found out quickly it was a lemon everything that could break in the first 2 weeks did and then kept breaking let's just say she has a honda now. Heard heaps of lemon stories not from just the korean's if our government had a bit of a backside and protected it's taxpayer's then half of the car companies that are here now wouldn't be that's why Australia has the most car brands on offer than anywhere else something like 50+ they dump all they're crap on us |

The model Jeep in question was built prior to Fiat buying out Chrysler/Jeep. Think current shape Grand Cherokee/ 300. Personally I think they have improved markedly since Fiat took over and needed too. Is this car a Lemon? Yeah probably. Do all manufacturers build them.. Yes. How many customers have received a full refund because of a defective vehicle, very few. Ive worked in the industry 20 years and can tell some stories of shockingly unreliable vehicles including Ford

Even the Japanese who used to have very good design and quality control managed to produce a Nissan Patrol with an engine that very quickly got the name of the" hand grenade". Toyota lost the plot after the 80 series cruiser and released the 100 series with a gearbox that was totally unsuitable for the job. Seems like it's part of the mass production era. |

Jury is still out on my jeep. 24000km and I found rust in the radiator support when I removed the grill. I thought my BA was bad rusting after 5yrs. The jeep is only 1yr old. Other than that I can't fault my jeep.

Hell Yeah!
Also found in the Jeep wiki that there are still old school Jeeps being made under license by Kia. Would never have thought that!

I think he was unlucky and received a car built on Friday. Two of my friends have the exact model in question. One has had one problem with the aircond and the other has had no problems from brand new. He has probably just smashed the resale value on people that own that model now.
