Default Which is the line coming out of the trans cooler?

Hi, I want to do a trans flush, so I need to disconnect the line where the fluid comes out of the trans cooler. There are 2 lines from the trans to the cooler, one to the bottom of the cooler and the other to the top of the cooler.
Does the fluid go in the bottom and out the top? or in the top and out the bottom?

Any help greatly appreciated, as it doesn't say in the workshop manual.

test by touch after you have driven it; there will be a noticeable difference in temperature; the incoming line will be hotter. Also if it goes through the radiator, as well it will be designed to go through the radiator before the trans cooler; i.e. the one going from the radiator to the trans cooler will be the incoming line.

Good idea...the trans cooler has 4 hoses on it 2 from the gearbox and 2 from the radiator, not really sure how it all works, so ill give your first method a try...cheers

cold water from the radiator flows through the cooler - it is independent of the radiator, so ignore those two lines.

Tried the test...felt slightly colder on the bottom hose...then someone replied to another post I started on a uk ford site saying they had just done a flush themselves and it was the bottom hose that you take off... cheers

You usually do the flush where the line enters cooler so you don't have the flow restriction imposes by the cooler; well at least with most cars.
