Default First time Ford owner!

Hello guys,

I just took delivery of a brand new Ford Territory SZ MkII. It's a Petrol RWD TX (so base-model), with only the 7 seats option picked above the entry level.

This is my first Ford ever and I intent to keep it for many years to come!

Cheers,
Pedro.

Thanks everyone! Car's been great so far, love the new car smell!

I'll hopefully put it on the highway this weekend for a bit of driving... So far it's only taken me to and from the train station, so not a lot of kilometres yet.

I know the Mods bug all too well. I will try my best to keep it under control this time around - maybe just a bit of window tinting?!?

Cheers guys!

Congrats and welcome to the Forums!

We're on our second Terri. The first one was absolutely fantastic. We've had the second one, a diesel, for 12 months now and after a few little niggles which have been fixed we're loving it.

They are a great family car, versatile, quiet and smooth. Considering this is a 10+ years old platform it is just amazing!

Happy Motoring!

Really? I was looking forward to being able to use cheaper fuel... Is this for performance reasons (not a need I have) or for longevity/reliability reasons?

Maybe I can fill up with 98 every second tank? Or maybe 95?

Cheers!

I was using 95 with the occasional "cleaning" with 98. Better fuel economy and better for the engine.

Well your post brings back memories - this was me 11 years ago! Maybe we should swap usernames now. You should get reasonable economy though, even with the petrol, matched with that beautiful ZF box.

Back in 2004 somebody on this forum advised me that owning a Ford would be a bittersweet experience and he was partly right, but it turned out very sweet on balance. Ford is a bit of a "near enough" manufacturer but their customer support turned out well for me as far as little niggles were concerned. Also very lucky to eventually find an absolute top dealer in Kinghorn Ford, Nowra and I stayed with them throughout for service. I hope to hell you have a good dealer because they're not all good. And this forum is unsurpassed if you need advice, you've come to the right place. So on a balance of factors we thought it was the best brand to own and time proved us right.

We only gave it up because the Territory (and Falcon) wasn't continuing, which might affect eventual resale and we didn't see anything promising in the future Ford lineup at that (crossover) level and it's taken us a BMW to replace it - which is logical as Territory was inspired by BMW and its performance is pretty much at that level and better than any other similar vehicle.

Make the most of it, it will be a collector's item eventually. How well Ford Australia could do before One Ford came along and dumbed it all down.
