They are wanting big $$ for a full rotisserie restoration to Factory Specs and then put a 4 speed in it? Kinda defeats the purpose if a person wanted a completely original GT. |

I'm not seeing a problem here, looks like a proper restoration.

Having personally sourced and imported six different American muscle cars I think I'm qualified to say there is a difference between original and molested when it comes to price. |

Would be good if all the original transmission, parts, tag etc were supplied as well for the asking price. |

I'd much prefer a 4 speed manual but for close to $200k I'd want original and not doctored.
I'd at least want the original trans and auxiliaries thrown in with the package. |

[QUOTE=FairmontGS;5796009]As long as it's bolt-in and not cut/weld in I don't see a problem with things like this.
Why does it really matter it's cut and welded? It's not like metal can't be replaced and welded back in or we would have to throw away every rusty falcon. |

Mine use to do that on occasions, a little tap fixed it. Miss it too, wonder if the low b****** who stole it is finished with it...

The fact that it has been changed to manual wouldn't really worry me.
This sort of stuff was done over the years and for all we know could have been changed over at a dealership when the car was new. Maybe the person who ordered it couldn't complete the deal for some reason and the next bloke wanted a four slotter? Okay it didn't come like that from Broadmeadows however it still may be a significant element of the car's history. All I know is that I'd love to have it in my garage - what a beautiful car! Russ. |

It's a modification that usually gets the green light. I know of a few X-series GT owners that have opted to do this. That 1 of 1 in Onyx black was originally an auto but swapped with a toploader after the resto?

I don't mind a mechanical alteration, if it can be reversed, Id find an auto 3 speed to put a side if its a all number matching car other then box
I have a mustang thats in Original number matching condition with 351 clevo the clevo at some stage is coming out and on a engine stand to be replaced 460 stroker 572 cubes but ill do nothing that cant be reversed but that's just me, there are those that will cut tub with out a worry each to there own i guess

mick sheep tend to follow each other mate.....people need to look past the fact it looks like it fell out of a grease gun, stop comparing door gaps etc. THEY NEVER LOOKED REMOTELY LIKE THIS WHEN NEW...its a factory automatic xygt falcon with A LOT of reproduction parts on it. if you want top dollar, and that is for an automatic shaker, (not interested in what it cost to make it look that way) then DO THE RESEARCH and do it right. its a nice car but 190k for an auto shaker....come on. I think most people shelling out 6 figures for a falcon gt would expect much closer to CONCOURSE CORRECT than this for that asking price

There is a reason this has not sold, it literally looks like every Genuine Ford part has been stripped off the car and replaced with reproduction parts.
I hope they own it and someone hasn't rolled in with a Genuine car with genuine parts and they unknowing get back this thing. The True blue car they did a few years back was the same. A shame to see them **** car like they are, I heard just the other day. It'll be bough the someone with money to burn but no idea about GTs... |

Deposit taken....looks like it sold already.
Easy to sell a shiny car I guess Another VF one in SA...as predicted after the Shannons sale there have been several XY GTs hit the market, I can't recall too many in the 2 or 3 years before that. Waiting for the "investment" to reach maturity I guess. Last edited by Stefan; 29-10-2016 at 05:13 PM. |

The onyx black "seekers" XY GT is plated auto and black trim but fitted with manual and white trim.
Adding option IMO is not a huge deal. Price should essentially reflect the level of originality. |

So if restos like this on the old school iron are selling for such strong money what happened to that good old chestnut "Once the baby boomers start carking it there will be little or no interest in the chrome bumper stuff"?
