Hmm, free electric charging stations from Bris to Cairns and now this.
Wouldn't be getting close to an election, would it?

They are considering a review. Pretty meaningless.

This is from the same mob who gave QLD bicycle ridders unprecedented authority to take control of the roads and then made the motorist feel they have a "you're guilty until proven guilty" guillotine positioned above their necks.

Same thing happened in my town.
They decided to spend $200K for a review if we should have a roundabout. Then decided to not build it. I tried to cut em a deal that I'd say no for only $150K but they weren't interested |

Morrison also had another great idea to allow Segway's onto public roads/footpaths and cycle ways. But the LNP got booted out. No doubt he will resurrect that stupendous idea next week. Last edited by cheap; 12-08-2017 at 10:09 PM. |

ok i'll bite (against all my better judgement), what rules do you have up there that give cyclists 'unprecedented authority to take control of the roads', as you put it?

He was involved in the Bike thing and the Uber debacle as well while he was the State Transport Minister. Their last road review increased a few places but not many. It wont be like the NT...maybe a few more 110kmh zones if we are lucky, but after you leave BNE most roads are potholed goat tracks not safe at 110 anyway. |

The roads had fewer lanes and there were at least twice as many cars as Brisbane but the trips took less time because peak hour stilled flowed. Coming back to Brisbane made me pretty sad. We're such a bunch of Sunday drivers, having a bit of a lardy-lar with no awareness of how to fit into a larger group of cars. Our roads are fine, we have plenty of them and more than enough lanes. People just need to become better drivers IMPO. |

A lot of the congestion is caused by roads simply not designed to convey that many vehicles in peak hours, either at merge points or where arteried dum thousands of cars into city streets where they earth worm through light after light until the fed up reach their destinations.

What we need is more ring roads to move traffic around Brisbane without actually having to go through it. A crash or a fatality north or south means hours of blockage for motorists.
These are the priorities more than going more than 110 KPH, most drivers would be happy to get to work at 70-80 kph. |

Yeah how dare they put some rules in to stop cyclists getting killed. They even gave motorists leeway to safely and legally pass over double whites. Oh the barbarians. Its almost as bad a motor boats have to give way to sail, its a travesty they have to use motorised propulsion to slow down and speed up again, oh the wear on the engine.

One mamil up here got clipped by a minibus on the highway when he was riding to work.
News article claimed that if he wasnt so fit from riding to and from work he might not have survived... Normal, intelligent people asked would he have been hit if he'd driven a car instead of being a road hazard....

Can we get back on topic please and not turn this into another Motorist vs Cyclist argument.

Don't we all believe that "every K over is a killer"
I nearly died once as I think I lost concentration and my speedo hovered towards 101 kmh. I'm lucky to be alive !! I must spend more of my driving time looking at my speedo, just to be sure ... |
