Post HSV Axe Sportscat.

"Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has confirmed its locally enhanced Colorado SportsCat dual-cab pick-up will soon be axed as Holden prepares to leave Australia and New Zealand, although the door has been left open for it to return in a new form in the future.

Speaking to journalists at the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 media launch in Melbourne, HSV boss Tim Jackson said the Ford Ranger Raptor-rivalling Colorado SportsCat “will lose its core vehicle … at least in the short term”.

“To develop a new vehicle takes an extended period of time,” he added, suggesting it might not be the end of the line for the Colorado SportsCat.

HSV might look to remanufacture the US-built Chevrolet Colorado in the future – as part of its developing GM Specialty Vehicles joint-venture with Holden parent company General Motors (GM) – and therefore create an enhanced SportsCat grade.

“With any project that we’d look at, the economics need to make sense, there has to be a good business case,” Mr Jackson said of the prospect."

Raptor rival lol. Spare me.

Imagine how expensive a us colorado, converted to rhd and then add the hsv gear on top would cost.

It's just a face saving gesture, they know this vehicle is now out of reach.
The gates are opening for Ford, all they have to do is take a calculated risk.

This could be an option.

Maybe save the Raptor name for a V8, and downgrade the existing Raptor to ChickenHawk?

Raptor is overpriced too.

Surprised it sells as it's junk also.

Looks OK i guess if into that kind of "tough guy" offroad style.

No one who’s ever driven it the way it’s supposed to be driven says that. I bet you’ve never even driven one, let alone on rough ground. The way it absorbs huge hits is outstanding. You brace yourself and start to cringe and it just glides over it.

It's rubbish and yes I've driven one. Feels slow and cumbersome.

If driven off road sure, and no i haven't.....most do the school run. It's a glorified Ranger which is pretty ordinary drive anyway.

An 80K wagon (like a used Audi RS4) runs rings around it in pretty much every way.

But you wouldn't have driven one.

But a tank will run through obstacles way better than an rs4. Bet you’ve never driven one either

Talk about comparing apples with oranges.

Well you said i haven't driven one.

You driven a fast wagon? (like mine)

The city is where 99% of these vehicles spend their time. (including Raptors)

Wagons much better for families.

It's an ego purchase nothing more.

You want to go bush bashing you buy an old Land Cruiser and go for it!

You don't buy an 80K new vehicle and smash it in in the scrub.

Buyers of Raptors are *******. Simple as that.

Wow, up your self there much mate, I have put 50,000kms on my raptor, through western qld, Nsw, SA & the NT. Easily the best car I have ever owned, a great all round package for what I do! Don’t assume everyone is as pretentious as you champ!

I'm not the one bragging about my vehicle. Most if not all car brands can travel different States actually?

Pretentious yes you are on an overpriced Ranger.....and "champ" means you have no class, which explains your likes.

Good luck with it.

Obviously never been off-roading then. There are new dual cabs, cruisers and prados everywhere. Good job making a fool out of yourself though.

Just because a car was made for offroad, doesn't mean that's the only place you can drive it. Also, I'm sure they would wash their car after an offroad bash. If I owned a 80k raptor I know I would. It would always be clean after.

Also, please show me where you got this 99% statistic from. Please provide a solid reputable link.

Don't be so quick to judge, because if we did the same we would come to the conclusion that you're a complete tosser which I'm sure is incorrect.

Typical Ford bogans will love your approach. Well done.

The topic is the HSV Sportscat. Keep on topic.

Also keep your posts civil and respectful, which has been lacking so far, or a few members posting here are headed for a forum holiday.

I gave an opinion (I don't like Raptors - if people do, fantastic. Many don't like my R36 and who cares) and was abused for it personally.

I thought an opinion based forum.

Actually you gave us your opinion 7 times that you don't like Raptors when once would have been quite sufficient.

Especially when the thread is about the HSV Sportscat until you side tracked it.

I think that's quite enough.

Opinions are fine, if they are relevant and have been requested. It's how they are put across that can be the problem and you seem to be going out of your way to stir people up and belittle their choices. Maybe try keeping some of those opinions to yourself.

But I'm not about to start debating that here with you either.

BTW, my username and signature has nothing to do with the Raptor Ranger, I don't like them much either. I was known here as Raptor long before that (or the F150 Raptor) came into being.
