: Ok, this happened to me today. I'm cut about it, feel free to tell me how stupid i am!!
can't post any more pics, lets just say the truck got off lightly! I got : and im to blame. Still it was an accident, and i wasn't driving stupid. Scares ya! Lessons learned: A) FIX YOUR BRAKES NOW! NOT WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD IT! B) Fatigue + Migraine + Allergies = Danger |

The main thing is you are alright.
Trucks do a bit of damage when you rub up against them. Hope the damage isn't too bad ... hope the chassis isn't bent.

That's a shame, car will never be the same!
Atleast none was hurt (by looks of it!) =) This is a guess, but i'd say: No less then $2k to get all that repaired? |

Not good to see, it must have been the day for the poor utes, I hit a roo tonight heading home from the drags at heathcote, the front bar is now heading for the scrap heap.

Thats one way to get a bonnet bulge on an AU.
Sorry, that was lame. Glad to hear your ok, would have been a shunt and a half. Almost got a tear, i have a soft spot for AU XR utes. Hope it gets fixed soon and can return to its former glory !

Thanks fellas for all the kind words.
i hit a truck with the bin on the back (not sure exactly what they're called). i was lucky only hit the front wheel, on the first pic is where i scraped the wheel (the holes are from the wheel nuts). Strange that the airbag didn't even go off! insurance will take care of it, so i only have to pay an excess. a cheap lesson i suppose, but i am worried about the car not driving like it used to, and any fallback from the other person involved. I feel bad for him being involved, mistakes happen i suppose. I dont need any police trouble now, as a job i've applied for requires a security clearance and a charge of dangerous driving or waht ever i'd get would be bad news for the job. Does anyone know if this would affect a security clearance? |

Airbag didnt go off because the sensor is smack behind the middle of the front bar, not the side of it. Was it drivable away from the scene? If it was you should be right in the way of charges etc, but if it wasnt drivable its possible neg driving could come up, dont know. Even if it does I dare say it wont be an issue getting a security clearance etc - I dont see how stuffing your own ute makes you a dangerous individual! :

You should be alright with the proberty check mate. Any AVO's or assaults or thefts are bad news, but a driving offence were no one was injured should be ok.
Good luck with the ute, I hope she comes back as good as new. |

OUCH! Hope it's all repaired to your satisfaction quickly mate, and I'm not going to give you a hard time, as far as I'm concerned, you're probably giving yourself more of a hard time then any of us could.
Important thing to remember I think is that it's much easier to fix a ford then a person who cops an impact, so the important thing is that nobody was hurt And I wouldn't worry about the security clearance, you shouldn't have any trouble.

Sorry to hear mate, I wouldn't think that a traffic incident woud affect a security clearance unless a criminal charge comes out of it, eg drink driving, etc

lucky you(sortof)......on the way home from golf yesterday up at the taniba bay roundabout i noticed a turbo ute had obviously tried a bit hard to exit the roundabout and mounted the medium strip and crossed into the oncoming lane, lucky for him there was no one coming at the time of his little incedent cause its a 80km/h stretch and couldve been nasty....hope you 2 learn from your lucky escape

No offence to you but it seems most ute drivers dont know how to drive lol. The difference between your accident and the other utes ive seen is theyre all throwing the back end out or burning out then driving into oncoming traffic with no traction (duh).
I partially want to skullfeck you for hurting a tickford AU, but as they all say accidents do happen And about you brakes comments.... one of my rotors is severely warped and im getting abs warning lights... you've woken me up |

Well my car STILL isn't ready. I call every second day, and each time they ask to call in a few days. Well done BLUE STAR PANELS, i know where i wont be taking my car ever again. Lets hope the job isn't house like the service.
I need my ute for the 12th of November, lets hope the thing is ready by then. A month for this amount of damage is more than enough surely. |

If Naomi can drop around ill do an interview :. I'd just hope to get the car back by friday, i've given them a weeks notice that i need the thing back by then at any cost. i also said ill cancel the repairs if its not complete by then, and i will. I'm probably just a huge winger. (spelling?) Just got my new Sony K750i, so that will keep me busy over the weekend ;) |
