Hey guys.
I currently have an elcheapo motorola after breaking my last phone (i'm about to throw it at a brick wall it's that crap) and would like to get a pda so at least use it to keep organised and use it at work with stock lists etc. Can anyone reccomend one? I'm not after a cheap one just whatever it takes to get a good one. And any pro's and cons if possible. Thanks. |

O2 mini mobile/PDA.
Pros: It's compact, and does it's job Con: You can lose the pen stylus, but hey, that's a risk with all PDAs. |

Is that all you want to do with it? You might be better off with a smartphone running Windows Mobile 5.

First you have to decive what platform you want to run.
Palms' have a few more apps available, but all the major apps run on windows mobile too. I run windows pocket pc on my HP Ipaq. Search around. What's best for some is not for others.. |

My boss just got the new O2 and it is absolutely amazing. $1200 IIRC.
I have a series 80 symbiam phone (nokia 6630) with symbian os version 8 (i think) and you can get any application you could think of for it - a symbian phone may be a cheaper option.

I have an HP iPaq, mainly cause I wanted the ability to read/write to both an SD card and CF card at the same time, and also want to be able to get a better mobile phone at any time while keeping the PDA as is and configured.

Palm will also be running Wondows Mobile 5.
If you got a seperate PDA get a dell, they are cheap, always have something on offer and are some of the best devices around. |

I wouldn't recommend Palm, I don't know if it was specific to this model but my dad had one and the battery went flat when he was away and it cleared itself, entirely.

That's why you keep it charged, and also why this problem doesn't exist in the 650's which can go flat but not loose their memory. |

Get a PHA (Personal Human Assistant) a little more expensive but a whole lot more fun and better to look at as well

HP iPaq rz1710 does the job for me. HP were doing a promotion deal when I bought my laptop, and they tossed in the iPaq for free. Main trouble is it freezes up every so so often, maybe a couple of times a week, and you have to reboot it. No HP update is available to fix it.
It will also clear its memory of the battery goes flat, but I keep it synched with Outlook on the laptop, so that isn't really a problem. I hear a lot of good things about O2. Palm seem to have lost their way of late, and most Palms now run Windows Mobile instead of their own OS anyway. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, particularly if you are swapping stuff between your PC and your PDA. |

I had a IPaq 6365 and it sucked.
In the 6 months I owned it it spent 4 months getting fixed. The speaker broke 3x, the bluetooth was unusable, the camera was crap and it froze all the time. Luckly I sold it on eBay for what I paid for it. I just feel sorry for the sucker that bougt it. HP were pathetic on fixing the problems. |
