Police Street Racing Training Video

This video was made by the San Diego PD to help cops in modified vehicle law enforcment.

Just watched it, all I can say is that civic driver got OWNED! :thebirds:
But those cops are really annoying, if it was my ride I'd be totally ИИИИed off right now.
Apparently its illegal to even have headers or a modified intake in california. How retarded is that.

Yeah, they have strong emissions laws. All that gear has to be engineered, thats why there are a lot of ricers in CA because of this. Visual mods are just alot easier.

I can just imagine a cop pulling over a v8 and commenting, while looking at the power steering pump, that is has an adjustable cam gear. ROFL!

There seems to be alot of "This is illegal, that's illegal", but for a training video, they don't say a thing on what to look for or why they are illegal. :

I was ambushed one night in my ute at a booze bus. The coppers looked under my bonnet and one asked is it a V8? I replied yes, yes it is, that’s why it says XR8 on the engine cover. Then another one asked me where the tyre placard was? I pointed this out for him and asked the obvious question, do you know what you’re looking at? I offered to save him a bit of time by explaining to him that everything was legal. I then said to one of the junior officers there, you seem to know a lot about cars, where did you do your apprenticeship? Before he could reply the Sergeant, A Kiss :ymca:, yes that’s his real name offered me a free ride in a divvy van if I wanted to get smart. Well guess what Sergeant A Kiss from the St Kilda TMU :ymca:. I did write a letter of complaint to Civic Compliance and guess what? They let me off the fine you issued for driving a supposedly unroadworthy vehicle. :hihi:

Cheers, Danny

Actually that was the only time I’ve ever been hassled in the car. I’ve had a few cops who were Ford fans admire it though.

Cheers, Danny

If I was living there, I'd buy a new fat V8 merc (if I could afford it) and slap a hundred street racing stickers on it.
Then when I get pulled up by the cops and they say this and that is illegal I'd just tell them its all stock standard you lose haha and drive off.

Actually one of my mates *almost* got done last year in his lancer evo 3, the cop who tried to book him claimed his rear wing was illegal cause it blocked rear view vison.
My mate took him to court and won because the wing was factory standard. :

Thats a load of crap, he should've fought the claimed defect. Unless its an underhanded import.
If you can buy a brand new car right from a dealership here, there should be no reason why a cop could book you for a car you bought fair and square still under warranty.
If they can sell it, the copper should be issuing a ticked to Mitsubishi and not the car owner. out:

It was an RTA, EPA & police blitz on street racing. The poor guy was about 45 and had just bought it and was heading home from having dinner with his HOT HOT wifey.

The RTA guy showed him the rules stateing that an intake/pod filter must be boxed in, it was overlooked when the car got complianced. It had some thing to do with if the engine backfire's and the filter catches alight the box will contain it, WTF. WOuld you be driving any car if it was back firing that bad........

Makes sense to me Dave must be just you.

Anyhow, that vid does explain a lot about the "ricer" phenomenon, i wouldnt do those sort of modifications if i was going to get pulled over every second day and be forced to remove them. Body mods do seem a whole lot more sensible when living in a society such as that.

If the guy refuses to comply they should just smack him over the head with the nightstick and say "RESPECT MY AUTHORITAY!"

Alot of the coppers here wouldn't know what they're looking at. I heard of a case where the cop asked the guy to open the bonnet and couldn't differentiate between a 250 I6 motor and a V8 in an XB. The guy hadn't been doing anything wrong - wasn't even driving it when the cops showed up at a meet

"number of deaths attributied to this dangerous activity"

why oh why did johhnie have to have an adjustable cam gear? That shift in exhaust timing caused a fusion reaction in his exhaust and blew up 1/2 the world
