Hey all. Just got United fuel Station here in Mildura. Was wondering what their 98 octaine fuel was like? Think is called Boosted 98. Like say compared to Ulltimate/ Optimax?

If the engine is tuned for it? You'll actually make more power but it has ethanol in it.
Some nissan engine owners have tested the Optimax extreme 100ron (optimax with ethanol) and made at extra 30rwkw. Looks like good power can be made from using it but I find it hasn't got enough outlets to warrant using/trying it yet.

Have tried the 94 ULP Plus in the Territory ... no realy discernible power increase ... but there was a Range increase though ... and works out cheaper than normal 91ULP too.

Around here the United also have 95octane etho blend thats 3 cents cheaper than their 91 octane straight petrol.. the 98 bland is around 5 cents more dear than the 91 octane.
I only fill up the EF at United, never the Focus. I actually get worse fuel economy using their 95 than i do the 91. 98 is marginally better, around the mark of what 95 octane straight petrol would get me. Whats good about United is that it lowers the surround servos prices. |

I've been using the 94ron blends for around 6mths or more in an EL and 02 Astina. Fuel economy isn't any worse in these as the computer leans the a/f mixtures off as per necessary. I actually get a better idle in the EL on the 94ron blend.

I think the Boost 98 is the 95 with 10% ethanol in it like the Optimax Extreme which is the Optimax 98 with 5% ethanol

Just cause it advertises shell, doesnt mean its shell PRODUCT ;) .
i use the United in the pos VL, picked up almost 100klm range, and the car doesnt cary on anymore, dont know why tho? Gf uses it in her new focus as well, gets good economy also. every efi car i have tried it in has loved it.. I have used it on my dirt bike and it wasnt very happy. considering how hard it is to top up at a united i nthe sticks, it doesnt warrant a rejet to suit, but it does run ok on the normal fuel jetting, and much better than optiCRAP does on ANY jetting. |

Their grade of fuel is lower than other companies, Shell might supply them but I doubt it is the same fuel. I am suprised that you guys are getting a longer range out of it.

The company i work for supplies top quality cheese, i only found out today that the company repackages it as "Woolworths" brand - the exact same stuff, for much cheaper on the shelf, but people will always pay more for the name.... so many retards out there. Now Bundy, where do you get your info that the grade of the fuel is less? |

Don't know if this is the case here though, food-for-thought.

I used to work for Mobil, quite high up in the food chain, I used to read memos on quality ratings from Mobil HQ, how true they were was another story...lol
It was just my opinion, I wasn't flaming...... I only use Mobil fuel. |

Everytime i ran United Fuel thru my XH, it would basically run like crap... Never again!
That was my experience, could obviously have different effects on different cars, i don't know!
