Just thought I would find out if people have a job that they love or hate and for what reason's, myself! I'm starting to hate the job that I have, the guys that I work with are great, BUT the boss is a total tool, When his father retired he gave the company to his son and his son doesn't know a single thing about the engineering trade, granted he has a diploma in business management but that is all, the boss has no time working on the factory floor, and all he sees is numbers on a page.
3 weeks ago I asked him at 11AM Wednesday if I could leave an hour early (3PM) to take care of some personal thing's I told him that we had started at 6.30 (1 hour early) so the "work" time was a normal day, and all that he said was "your killing me" well he didn’t say NO!. So I left work 1 hour early to get some things for my wife's B'day that nite, and then had the next day off with a hang over. Well just after lunch on Friday after having Thursday off with a hang over, I was given a written warning due to my leaving work early on Wednesday, had not been approved (WTF!!!!) NOT the fact that we had worked 9 hours over time that week or that we started an hour early that day or the fact that I had taken Thursday off with a hang over, BUT for the pure fact that the d**k had not approved my 3PM departure. TOTAL TOOL!!!!!!!!! :jab: I'm a M.I.G. welder by trade and have left better jobs then this, I've been with this place for 10 1/2 months and not one bit of "training" has been forthcoming, On the day of the interview they said they would train me so I could get my stainless T.I.G. licence as they make boats and fuel tanks, as well as my heavy truck licence for deliveries, well in the last 2 weeks they have hired 2 T.I.G. welders, 1 M.I.G. welder, and a full time driver. So we have gone from a crew of 4 welders to 7 welders and a driver. All of the positions in this company are permanent full time, 3 weeks off over Xmas and 8 days sick leave. Now! Do I put my job security at risk and find a job that I actually like or belt my head against a brick wall very day like one of the other welders who has been with the company for 9 years?

My wife worked out the hardway when the promises at hire time dont happen, then leave and find a better job, she got sick of the BS and nothing happening, so left, took a job with a little less pay, but they have delivered what was promised at hire time and she is loving the Job.
When a company is run on dollars and cents, black and white on paper its time to leave. P.S. nothing is secure these days : As for me I love my Job, always seem to love my jobs, but being a nerd and working with computers has always been a passion of mine. I am a Network Administrator.

The joys of factory work...
I did cabinet making for a while part-time when i was still at school, and there were 16 guys working there, which constantly changed weekly. Some got sacked, some left and some didnt show up. Got offerered an apprenticeship but I didnt want to stay in that environment If you were to leave, I'de make sure you have something else lined up before you go. Or, stay and look to the future and it may be possible to start your own business |

I'm one of those annoying sods who loves their job.
I work in fundraising (no, I don't stand on the corner of the Queen St Mall in a koala suit rattling a bucket full of 5c pieces!) and work with my clients very closely analysing their data, deciding who should be contacted for what, what the "what" should look like and how it should sound and generally get them as involved in the charity as possible. The basic premise is that we get you to make that first gift and if you give $10 once, it's my job to get you to give $10 again, and then $20 a few months later, and then set up a monthly gift of $10, then a monthly gift of $20 and so on... the sky's the limit. I never realised quite how generous people can be, and it's uplifting to know that some people can give so much to all these worthy causes (we're talking BIG charities that everyone knows). Personally speaking, it's great to be a part of it - helping charities get more money in AND engaging with their donors to make the world a better place. I actually enjoy going to work, which is something I've never experienced before and I never want to stop doing this, or indeed leave the company I work for. I took a fair hit on my salary for this job, and I have no regrets whatsoever - especially considering that my salary has increased in the time I've been here to what I would consider decent. My advice would be to find a job you love so that everyone can hate you when you tell them how much you love it. No better feeling. Just find that job before you quit your existing one.

I like my job, it has a lot of freedom and I do enjoy everyones company. The pressure can get on my nerves a bit but I know I could never get the same atmosphere anywhere else. We have bourbons every friday arvo on the company.
We muck around alot. The boss hires a house on the murray every christmas for a huge drinking binge on the company. Any booze we like. Any food we like. Ski boat and jacuzzi included for a long weekend. The work can be a bit of a pain, but essentially its a great place to work.

I loathe my office job ... but it's a decent salary with shift allowance ... and is flexible too. (there are good things about it ... but the job itself is boring). Can't complain about the pay .. it pays the mortgage.
I love my part time job - out in the ute doing courier work ... pay isn't stable though as it depends on if the market is busy at the time ... and what days I work when not at my office job.

I don't mind my job too much. The pay isn't all that good, it gets bloody hot in summer (I do profile oxy cutting) but my employer is pretty flexible if I need to go early/take a day off, also if any of us employees need a hand money wise they lend it to us no worries and they talk to us like human beings, not like pieces of crap like so many bosses seem to.

im indifferent about my job, its good pay for a 20 year old and if i felt like it i could clear 2k each pay day.
But still dealing with the same customers every day (and i mean the SAME, sometimes they dont change clothes for 3 days in a row!!!!!) really does get annoying and having to hear them complain and whinge about losing all the time does get to you. Oh the joy of working at a casino! |

Was thinking about this earlier today. I've been working for a trade union for the last 5 months or so.
Had a member whingeing about me to the General Secretary today - the issue wasn't actually with my demeanour or behaviour - I was just telling her info she didn't want to hear, and she got the shirts.... In the law firms I've worked at in the past, this kind of thing would result in me being dragged screaming in to a partners office for a severe revving and threats of unspecified disciplinary action down the track. The boss called me today and said "We've had a complaint from this bloody woman, what do you want me to say to her?" Hence, I love my job. Also, for the first time ever, I'm working in a close-knit team of people my age, rather than a random bunch of crusty, middle aged ex-private schoolboys. It's good to be me!

There are not enough words to describe how much I hate my job.
Never work for Woolies!! My Dad has twice offered me a job in our business and I said no. *slaps self* I just don't know what I want to do.

i love my job, $12/hour, abused everyday by scummy people because we dont have the cheap nasty grog they want, yelled at by supervisors, holding back the urge to jump the counter and deck the next foul smelling scum that argues with me....

Sounds like the bank where my mrs works. having to deal with people who smelt like they p!ssed themselves. Dealing with cash that smells as if they had it buried deep in a body cavity, and counting $2000 worth of 5c peices old grannies have saved for the past 10 years. :MrT_anim:
