Default Lookie what LuvinmyEB found for me :)

And now I have it on the chair next to me... The official Ford repair manual from the release of the "new" Mk II Escorts, still in mint condition

Total cost: $10

Much MUCH better then the crap Gregories book I've got ("remove item", no help as to how to remove it, then "installation is a reversal of the removal procedure", no, I would never have worked that out!!!).

Thanks for that, it will come in very handy.

On a different subject, anybody here ever hooked up a oil pressure gauge to a 2L pinto? The Ghia dash which I've got is an improvement over the base model dash (at least it has a factory tacho), but I would like to have more information, such as oil pressure and an amp meter, to name just two...

There should be a oil pressure switch for a light that turns on when pressure is low. I imagine all engine's have this, even the mini does! Put the gauge's sender into that hole or even T piece it so you can retain the original light. Then just run the wires from the guage to the sender, power and ground and you should be set.

Ahh, cool, thanks for that. I'd prefer to have both the oil warning light as well as a pressure gauge. Sounds easy enough.

The other question is, where would I put the gauges, considering I don't want to cut or in any way damage my ghia dash if at all possible? I could remove the clock from the centre console and put one there, but there isn't enough room there for more then one gauge, and I want to be able to keep an eye on oil pressure and amps...

I would go for the mini guages too, that's what I had in my Datsun 1600. Although I had them where your stereo is. I'm sure we'll work out somewhere to put them.

Your welcome for finding the book, it's already proven useful on the 1.3L and when it comes time to pull down and rebuild the 1.6L I'm sure it will get plenty of use. So it will come in handy for both of us. :

I wish my Mk I manual would hurry up and get here. :

Well, Pitstop Books would have to be one of my favourite shops (awesome range of vids/DVDs too) - was just browsing and since it sounds like a couple of you would like copies of the manual. They can be had new for $99 from Pitstop it seems:

http://finder.pitstop.net.au/view/79/query/FORD|ESCORT|59

And for Damo...

http://finder.pitstop.net.au/view/79/query/FORD|FALCON|130

Hope that helps.

Steve.
