Default greetings from across the pond

hi all! i found this forum via a forum ranking site and decided to check it out. anyways, my name is Brian and i live in Fort Wayne, Indiana USA. i own a 1995 Ford Ranger Splash (flareside) 2wd pickup truck that has full air ride suspension, 2 toned paint, Sir Michaels steel roll pan and a few items shaved on it. here are a few pics of it:

future plans include redoing the air ride, shave ALOT of stuff, and bodydrop it 3 inches so it will lay the body of the truck on the ground.

its great to be here and maybe i can lend a hand with people asking questions about American cars and trucks. take it easy!

up front it has 3 inch drop i-beams and air bags as well and out in the rear it has a 4 inch acle flip, 3 inch lowering blocks and air bags as well.

the front exterior mods include a billet grille, clear corner lights and crystal clear headlamps. i paid less than $90 USD for the headlamps (with bulbs) and corners and the billet grille piece i paid $53 USD. got it all off of eBay!

thanks for the welcome. i noticed when i registered it was like 3am there. thats early as hell! lol

G'day baggedsplash,
Welcome to the forums mate.

Sweet ride man, you guys are so lucky over there with the style of ya pickups and SUV's. :
The low rider utes are just starting to be a big thing here, not alot of stuff available here in OZ is very inspiring, mainly Toyota Hilux utes.

My neighbour has a 99 F150 Lariant(i think its called), He imported it from Canada. Has a 5.4l sohc Windsor V8 and all the Leather trim, damn they are a nice truck!
He rescently gave me a heap of the Performance offroad mag's to read and i must say, some of the gear available for your vehicles is awesome.
My inlaws rescently bought a 04 Explorer, 4.6l v8 and i was checking out the Billet grilles and those crystal lights.
I reackon it would look alright with some of that gear, the fatherinlaw is a rev head so he would proberbly be keen too. :eclipsee_

Cheers
Steve

first off i wanna say thanks for the warm welcome all and the compliments on the truck. i have a LONG ways to go on it. im going to tear it down this winter (which is summer for you all if i am not mistaken??) and redo my air ride setup and do a bunch more work to it. i just gotta get another car first before i do that since this is my only vehicle i own now.

Kirky- yeah the new Mustangs are bad as hell. id love to get one but im too broke and plus my credit sucks...LOL. how did you like it over here?

Bent_8- yeah the F-150 Lariats are badass trucks. i really dig the Lightning version tho. i believe the Lightning comes with a supercharged 5.4L if i am not mistaken. they are wickedly fast. i dont read alot of offroad magazines, mostly a few magazines called MiniTruckin' or Street Trucks they are dedicated to the lowered trucks but they do alot of performance articles in em too. the headlights and cornerlights would look good on your Explorer. make it look alot cleaner if you ask me. matter of fact, im going to change my front end to an Explorer. ive got an '01 Explorer front bumper thats going on this winter. i just gotta get the rest of the stuff to do it along with money.

ea_silver_ghia- coool!! im sure you all have seen people post stuff on vehicles that are quite different.

phoon- i dont think you want to see a picture of my engine bay. its dirty as hell....LOL.

red_hotxr6- depends on what state you live in. some states are stricter than others. the state i live in is pretty leniant on what you can and cant do to your vehicle. i dont watch alot of NASCAR...not my thing. kind of boring to see a car make left hand turns all day long if you ask me. i prefer rally racing or drifting

fantz- LOL at Pimp My Ride. that show is a joke. i watch it to laugh at what kind of dumb stuff they do to those craptacular vehicles. Overhaulin' or Monster Garage are much better shows.

sorry for the long reply. i tried to answer everything as best i could!!

Mate i loved it, The cars, the people, the girls, the places to visit. I met this one girl who lent me her car for sight seeing purposes and just cruizin around after she had only known me for 2 days. She was good fun. I just had a blast and cant wait to come back over again one day.

I found it funny that i would be driving along a highway doing 10 - 15 mph over the speed limit and had other cars overtaking me as if i was standing still almost. And that would be the reason why there was a 50+ car pile up a bit further down.

red_hotxr7 - yeah ive actually seen the Ford vs Holden races here on cable tv on Speed Channel. the Falcons they race over there are pretty sweet looking. too bad we dont get em over here. i think the races are called something like V8 Supercars or something like that. i cant remember as its been a long time since ive watched em. neat stuff and i like the fact they do alot of road courses instead of our oval track racing.

You're right. They are the V8 Supercars. They are a fantastic race series. They don't do any oval races, all road courses, including a couple of street circuits. And the biggest race of the year, the Bathurst 1000 is only about a month away. And about what red_hotxr6 said regarding Marcos Ambrose, Ambrose was a 2 time V8 Supercar Champion (2003 and 2004). This year he went to the US where he is racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Trucks series. He's been impressive there, getting a pole position and a couple of podiums.

My wish Marcus Ambrose/Craig Lowndes driving against Mark Skaife/Garth Tander. You would want to record that for posterity. What a race.

Definately. That would take away the HRT/Toll grouping advantage!
