The Fez is coming up due shortly for it's 15,000km service
According to the manual it takes about an hour, looks like they pretty much change the oil and filter, replace the pollen filter (is that the air filter?), and do some basic visual checks etc. How much did you guys roughly pay for your 15,000km service?,......... what's it gonna cost me?......is it going to hurt bad? |

Is it possible to change the oil without going to the service?

I got mine in April 06.........I do about 75kms a day getting to and from work though, have to drive into the City........bad traffic, stop start stuff, hate it with a passion. For the $200 or thereabouts I presume that includes the cost of the oil and filter and the pollen filter as well........you dont have to pay extra for those parts as well do ya? |

My 1st service was about $275 from memory. The 30K would have been the same price, but I had some extra stuff (balance, alignment etc) done.
I was chatting with one of the guys at Super Cheap (spare parts supplier) on the weekend, and I asked him what oil is best recommended. He said that most service depts will use the GTX3 cos its cheap, and recommended I go for a synthetic Fuchs 10W-30 for my interim oil change. Anyone have knowledge or experience on this? |

changed oil and filter - now using the Fuchs fully synthetic 10W-30. what a difference! Engine is so much smoother, revs more freely and pickp has improved. Also found that pinking that occurred at times has almost disappeared. Will be using this or similar for all oil changes. I'll try what others have used - eg the 5W and possibly 0W at some point too. ciao for now Ali. |

Hmm the GTX3 is a semi-synth 15W-40 oil, the manual stated that 5W-30 is recommended for the Fiesta. When I had my 3000km complementary service, I brought in Castrol EDGE 5W-30 and ask them to use that and change the oil filter. I feel that the engine has improved NVH level because of that.
Servicing the Fiesta at Ford cost so much! I'm thinking of just servicing it at places like Ultra-Tune. |

Improved noise levels? will give it a shot with the Fuchs 10W-30 and posst results. I've never used Ultra Tune and the like, but friends who have do not recommend it very highly... buy beware :eclipsee_ |

My first service cost me about $12 (oil filter) scored the oil for free from a rep, did it myself, all but the pollen filter, which I may look at at the next service.

Just not sure whether to do the same with the Fiesta or not although it would appear that the Fez is a fairly reliable car, anyone had any problems with their Fez in the first 100,000km? $200 or thereabouts to basically change the oil and put a new pollen filter in sounds a little steep to me, anyone know how much this pollen filter actually is to buy over the counter? |

My Fez is coming up for its 30k service. FORD $265 +pollen filter+wheel alignment & balance. Ultratune $180+pollen filter etc. Pollen filter is behind centre stack, under the dash. Not sure if to trust UT or not. UT will save me around $80 on FORD that pays for 2 tanks fuel...

Used Alto Ford Artarmon - feeling somewhat unsatisfied. Going to switch to Power Ford Castle Hill (close to home and good rep from friends in the industry).

I paid around $250ish at Binks Ford in Footscray. Service was pretty good and the car was ready when they said it would be.
Funny story: I rocked up and parked outside the service office and went inside to leave the keys. I turned round and saw about 10 people (mostly showroom staff) gathered around my car. The guys looked interested, while the ladies were ooh-ing and aah-ing. I had to laugh. They all looked up at me and went back to work. A few of them smiled at me, but nobody said anything. No compliments, no criticisms, no nothing. Not a word. Bizarre.
