Hey,
So i'm in the process of doing up a site for a band, and they've asked me if i can get the web-hosting set up. So we're looking for a decent Host to register with. Not a overly 'huge' band at the moment so shouldn't need too much bandwith. How much would normally get used on a small site? I don't know much about hosting and what not, so any help would be awesome. Would something like the economy plan here do? https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosti...?se=%2B&ci=260 Any help would be appreciated. Cheers |

Are their servers any good?
Also do you get given the choice which servers you want to use? Would 1gig of bandwith be enough? And it would be fine to operate a flash site off this yeah? |

If you want an aussie site just spend an hour researching with google. the .com (US) sites are way cheaper and dont need an ABN, however when i type in the name of the company followed by "customer service" you soon find that the low costs generally mean bad service.
1 gig for a basic site with just a few information pages would be plenty i would assume. |

I recently helped create and host a local bands website...we went with a package from http://webcity.com.au/ and had no hassles at all.

Hey,
Alright we've decided we're gonna register the domain name, and for the time being just use a free hosting site with a 'coming soon' image and what not until i get the site finished up. All domain registrations cost about the same yeah? Anyone got some good ones to push me in the right direction with. Also, When you register a domain, can you like change the hosting around like whenever, for example say i register with a free hosting site for the time being, when we get proper hosting can we easily change to that? And finally, can someone point me in the direction of some free hosting, don't need much bandwith and web-space for the time being. And preferably no ads |

I have 3 sites hosted with www.jooster.com
It costs me less than $20 a year to host all 3 and I can do everything the big boys can do. You can change plans (up or down) at any time without penalties and I don't recall them ever having any unscheduled downtime. |
