Sa them live in Newcastle on the liveline tour and then again in Whyalla. What a top live band, one of the best. Shame the Doc got a messed up next.

Liveline has been re-released. A 2 disc live album. Their normal albums were okay, but there live stuff is just fantastic :thebirds:

Geez, probably 100 or so times.

I recall seeing them once at The Collector a good 9 or so years ago when they brought out a new album and tried to tour with it. They played the whole album live as well as a lot of their classics.

I don't think it was advertised that well, not many people were there (which was good for us) but you could tell the band was winding down and they weren't anywhere near their peak.

After they finished both sets, Doc went to the bar and grabbed an OJ. I was a few meters from it standing there with my gf at the time. He casually walked over and we started chatting, asking me what I thought of the new stuff. Don't recall all the specifics, I was half cut by then... :P

About 5 mins into the convo, I turned to the missus and said, what would you do right now if Doc was standing beside me (she hadn't even noticed I'd been talking to him for the last 5 mins) she did the usual 'Oh my god I would die yada yada yada', still thinking it was a theoretical question.

'Doc, I'd like you to meet my lovely girlfriend, Carly.. Carly, this is Doc'. It was a priceless moment. ;) Had a good 30 min chat to him, he was pretty humble, just having a good chat in a public bar, just one of the guys. Had a few chats with a few band members over the years and he was probably the only one that didn't make me feel like I was beneath him because he took some precious time out of his day to grace me with his presence.

Was the last time I saw them live, it was an attempt at a comeback that I don't think got very far.

The other memory I have of the Angels that stood out was seeing them in a place called CT's in the late 80's. Don't know what he was on but he was completely out of it, but still put on a show and a half. For the second half of his set, the crowd had to keep propping him up because he kept on falling fowards into them. He would wrap his hand around a scarf on his mic stand to try and stop him from falling over. He also did a couple of songs on his back being passed around the crowd. I remember the night vividly, I don't think he does though. :P

Late 80's and early 90's were some great times for some good Aussie rock bands. The Radiators are still kicking around every now and then, they look their age but they can still rock. Good times.

Unfortunately the band are NOTHING without him. I saw them play on Australia day last year at Coogee beach, left me disappointed.
My dad reckons his ex knew DOC in Adelaide when they were teenagers.

"TAKE A LONG LINE" is still one of my favorite songs ever! Listen to it at least once every few weeks.

If I remember correctly , Angus Young & Bon Scott gave them their "Start" , & they got known by supporting AC/DC in the mid 70's.

Gotta agree, one of their best for sure. It's a pity that at that time it was hard for Aussie acts to be excepted in America, they deserved to be a true international act, same deal with Skyhooks.
