Completely agree...it does work, but it also looks like one of those fake sites that are just spam...

Cold stone sober, it works. After a few drinks I could see myself putting the wrong series of numbers in.

Well after typing in 1000's of names , I'm looking for something as good as themboys, it's quirky relates to people has mystery ( who are themboys?) and lends it self to multiple shops ie themboys auto, themboys racing etc.

Lets test the brains trust , my brain is turning to mush with 100's of failed attempts so far but confident it will sort itself out.

yeh not so good. main thing i thought is it is hard to remember the address as there is to many numbers. with website names basic is better. no numbers (unless the buisness name has a single number or so) no weird spelling if possible.

shop-twentyfour-seven.com ?
shoptwentyfourseven.com

Personally, I would try and avoid the use of numbers in a domain name and prefer to spell them out instead.

Edit: You could always advertise capitals/proper case as domain names aren't case sensitive.

ShopTwentyFourSeven.com

Looks too messy IMO. Short & sweet reels them in.

I like EA2BA's one: shop247.com (if it's still available)

shop24-7.com perhaps?

In planning these things, you need to go and think about the most stupid user that you could ever possibly conceive, and then try and make it idiot-proof for them.
I work in IT creating programs for a Financial Services company. It is hard trying to make things idiot-proof. Once you finally do, they go and hire a better idiot! :

is this for your car care business? If so, shop247.com and the like domain names give no idea as to what it is. Something to do with your business might help others remember the address.

I would use the net to see if domain names are free..... (ie just pop it into the address bar and see what happenes - not 100% correct but close enough)

When registering my domain I went to an aussie domain registering web site, and used their search engine to see if another domain name was free that sounded the same as my original one but spelt differently. It was free at the time...

A few days later i tried to register it, all of a sudden it was taken. My web developer mate looked into it and found that the site was registered the the same domain registering company the day after i did the availability search....

They are still waiting for my call to buy it from them i guess... geeze good thing it was only an after thought and not my main domain name......

So keep your cards close to your chest, think of a name and buy it then and there is available...

Oh, a ".com.au" may bit a bit more pricy compared to just a .com, but it looks soooo much more better seeing as your an Aussie! anything .com to me just yells "American site"
