I don't think I've ever heard a bad sounding German V8. Man they know how to tune the exhaust note just right, all of them, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz

The German V8's do sound good but (call me crazy) the humble Windsor with a decent set of pipes sounds better

I was at one of my clients who is a big BMW dealer and they said they have 30 deposits for this car.
If I wanted one it would not be until the end of next year.

Euro III has more to do with emissions rather than noise. Having said that, the Germans get around the drive-by noise limits by installing flaps in the exhaust system. When you're cruising or on light throttle applications they stay closed keeping the noise down. When you boot it, the flaps open up and all hell breaks loose.

If think that M3 is loud you should hear a Ferrari F430 with the optional sports exhaust... there is absolutely no way in hell that it passes on idle let alone with any sort of load on the engine.
