Went to the Perth Motor Show yesterday and had a good look at the 40th Anniversary GT.
Man is that colour going to be hard to keep clean !! Glad mine will be Octane... Anyway, Ford were letting people all over just like any other car and the amount of interest was huge. People were lining up to sit in it. Meanwhile the HSVs sat in the Holden stand locked up an lonely :togo: Also noticed the 40GT was a Dec06 build so it won't be hard to spot the motor show car when it is eventually sold (assuming all the others are 07). |

This is AUSTRALIAN Ford forums not AMERICAN Fors forums and the famous GT40 was an supercar from the 1960s. The current model to celebrate the original is a Ford GT. Yes, to many the name GT40 brings an image of a supercar but to others it may mean something else. Give the guy a break. |

oh, just an Australian FALCON GT, nothing special.
Oh well. btw yes the title is very misleading (GT40 ONLY EVER meant the Ford GT40 of the 60's and nothing else, Australian ford forum or not) but no dramas. |

The MkIII GT40 was the road car if I remember correctly and an absolute piece of ***** in comparison to the racer. Poor visibility, hot, uncomfortable.

You say that they had “poor visibility and were hot and uncomfortable”. Really? Do you have first hand experience with these things? I would gladly put up with poor visibility and a little bit of heat to have one of these masterpieces. Magpie, that the car you took the photo of is actually GT 40 M3/1103. These were built by J.W. Automotive Engineering in association with Ford Special Vehicles in Berkshire. I’m not 100% sure, however, I think that this car was once owned by Damon Hill. Ford only have one of these cars in their collection. That’s GT 40 M3/1107 which is a light silver and is fitted with Borrani wire wheels. Cheers

as far as i am aware the GT40 nameplate is copyrighted isn't it? The whole reason why the Ford GT couldn't use it in the first place. The guy that owns the nameplate wanted some ridiculous amount of money for Ford to use it.

Well, I just got back from the Perth Motor Show and I saw this GT (40th Edition)
The only thing that I liked about it was the rims - Very nice. I noticed the Cobra stripes where only Vynal stickers too. I thought they would at least be painted. And another thing I cannot stand is the fake plastic "Carbon Fibre" strip it has on the dash above the glove box. It could have the fake plastic wood grain like the Force6 or just the plain black plastic strip like the Ghia (which was my favourit next to the Persuit ute) In conclusion, I would not buy one if I had the money but if one was given to me, Id drive it with pride for sure!
