hey guys
got the lt tdci serviced yesterday, the mechanic said that he found some oil around the turbo - he said he was not sure if this was normal for the focus and it may pay to see a ford dealer. anyone know if this is normal? doesnt sound right to me... |

I had a failed gasket on the turbo on my TDCI at 34,000 klm fortunately 3 month before warranty expired. Its not a small job as need to take drive shaft out to access turbo, so they told me.
Mine was a small leak (One or two drops over night from oil running down things) but they never get smaller and turbos get upset if they do not get enough oil. |

Hi portpiro.
This is most definitely NOT normal. Where are you based? Have you contacted a dealer yet?

another mechanic i spoke to today reckons this could be perfectly normal - stating that turbos push out very high pressures and that oil leaks are to be expected?!?!

I would be very suspect of that view as any oil leak that drips on the ground makes a car unroadworthy. Since ford fixed mine under warrantee It cannot be a normal thing for them to do it.
But that said I am no mechanic. |
