For those of you who are on ADSL with bigpond you will be interested to know they have launched ADSL 2+.
ADSL 2+ is available in some exchanges and you would have to talk to bigpond to see if you can get it where you are. But the big benefit is the lowering of the standard adsl charges. The only plan speeds available now are 256kb and 1500kb. The 1500 Liberty (old unlimited) account is now only $69.95 so if your paying around this for a much slower connection now is the time to change plans and take advantage of this benefit. Really only applies to those already with bigpond, and I wouldnt join them if your with someone else. But its good value if your with them already. Also, the 10 gig cap for the unlimited plans has now been bumped up to 12 gig before the speed cap applies. You can also get upto 8 mbit connection for $89.95 liberty. Finally some decent internet speeds are becoming available. Not that some people couldnt already get adsl 2+.

Telstra also count uploads, something most other ISPs don't. So if you're into file sharing, it sucks. I'll see how it pans out with my current provider - see if I get faster speeds for little or no price increase as my connection is provided via Telstra wholesale > Internode
