Default P's and cars.

In light of all these discussions on Power restrictions for P platers and so on, and all these comments about P platers going out and buying Big powerful V8’s Ect, I thought it would be interesting to see what car’s people have owned wile on there P’s and in there younger years.

I believe the first car’s you own when you get your P’s are dictated buy you parents, I know my was, and the Old man was a Cop so there were no arguments.

I will go first.

Got my license in 2001

85 Toyota Corona 2.0 Carbie
94 Honda Accord
98 Explorer XLT V6 (Slightly modified) still have it.

Now at 22 years 4 months and with around 200,000km under my driving belt, I have got a XR6 Turbo (Well in 4 days and counting)

Got my license in 1998.

First car was a hand-me-down from mum. 1990 KF Laser 1.6L Carbie.

I'd still be having that car (and waiting for a XR5) if not for an old man who decided that he was above the law the turned in front of me at a controlled intersection. I was going straight, he was going the opposite direction and turned right across my lane. This was in Dec 05.

Got my license in 1997 and my first car was a 302 auto XA coupe. Rusty body that leaked water, tired engine that burned a litre of oil for every tank of petrol, but it looked awsome.
Then I had a 6 cyl XC sedan followed by an EA which I still owned for a few years after I got off my Ps along with an XC GXL as a toy for a few months. Followed by a 5 litre EF and now my BA.

i got my p's in 98 as well....first car was a lowered XF ute, nice SVO paint job (white over silver)with graphics, clapped out 302 conversion (which we reverted back to a hot 6 to get it registered)
it went quite good for what it was......so many fond memories..

i was always destined to end up with a V8 though - i was going to re-convert it back to an 8, but bought my V8 NC Fairlane instead

P's in 2003, at the time was driving an AUII Fairmont (parents)

Then went to EFII Futura
LR Focus

now in an AU3 XR8 ute

in terms of driving experience i would easily have racked up over 100,000kms, half of that being at night.

I got my P's in March 05 and will be off them in two months time . My first car was a Volvo 1993 940GLE which I had until January 06. With 96kw at the flywheel it was never going to be fast but it was very safe. In January 06, I got my BA fairmont which I still currently drive. It may only be a 6 but it has power and torque which would shame a few early V8s.

Got P's in 99, first car was an XD Fairmont 351. Took the 5.8 badges to keep the cops guessing. "Its just a little 302 officer I swear". :

I got my P's in 98' and my first car was a 450hp XD ute. It had ran a 12.5 in street trim which felt pretty quick back then as the only thing I had driven on the road until then was my parents cruiser and hilux.

I got my p's in November '05 and drove a heavily worked MK1 Capri GT3000 making around 250-280hp and suprisingly never had much cop trouble but the costs of keeping it running meant i had to sell it about 6 months after getting my license.

Now i have a '94 XR8 Sprint and i still don't get hassled by the police. Its now been over 1 year since i got my license and over 30,000kms, i've had one speeding ticket (11km/h over) and zero crashes.

I got my P's in November 2005(17 years old). I didnt have money for a car at the time so I just drove around in my mums corrola and drove a 05 toyota hiace for work. Iv easly racked up about 60k kms since Iv had my licence. I do over 500kms a week to work and back 6 days a week and do alot of driving for work. Plus Iv driven a few long country trips.

When I turned 18 I bought my first car. A 03 BA Futura. Very nice car and really love it. But due to the unintentional teasing of forum members with the xr6 turbo's. Im now saving for one and should be upgrading around may/june

ive been on my full licence for around 6 months now, so have been driving approx 5 years now, only been pulled over 2 times for rbt. my first car was an ea lemon, then an ed 5 speed when it blew up, got sick of it a year later got an au 5 speed then found my ba xr6 5 speed. so my first cars were relaively low powered heavy safe cars. i learnt in a manual tarago and an auto v8 kingswood two totaly opposite cars. i think these days with all these car movies influencing younger drivers, it has moved "first cars" up the power spectrum because it is seen cool in the younger generation eyes to have a fast car that can beat their freinds cars.what happened to the days of a car just being an "gets me from a to b" object rather than it gets me from a to b quicker than yours. when i got my car i only was interested in getting around not racing everyone.

im on my ps age 20 (still on reds get greens in 3 months) and drive a modded BA 6 xt estimated about 165-170rwkw its auto so its faily safe
prev had a worked ea full of xr6 bits 5 speed etc etc that met its fate with a telegraph pole.... sideways.

i still think the ba would have a hard time keeping up with my old ea.
