Ford Oz Says No to F-Series Super Duty

From a reliable source it appears the management at Ford Oz have canned the business plan to bring back the F250 and F350 ( F-Series or Super Duty ) models as an 08 model. With no more 7.3s and new emission rules the only option is to go straight to the 6.4 Twin Turbo Powerstroke vehicles.

It is believed that the product management right up to Tom Gorman are grappling with trying to get small products in and had 'zero interest' in expending resources to bring in heavy trucks. This despite the money and wealth at the top end of the market and the resources boom where companies like VDC are getting $140k-plus for the older F250 6.0 vehicles (albeit Harley models).

A crying shame and amazing that they don't just use resources like VDC to make this happen like the old days.

A 2008 model F350 King Ranch dually has been spotted at VDC so I guess their hold on the market at the ridiculous premium prices will remain.

Yeah I dont know about the 350, but it is a shame that the 250 is not coming. Yes they dont sell that many in the grand scheme of things, but people who buy these have money, and Ford must make a killing off them.

Importers will fill the niche. I guess if you really need an F-series and have the money youll just fork out the 100+ grand and use an importer.

Yeah I guess, but still, factory support is always nice. I think someone mention no RHD at all at the moment, so that hurts.

VDC were doing well to get their mits on a KingRanch as the BigMFs are exceeding US sales estimates by over a third and those Superduty estimates have been upped twice, even with the Navistar engine supplier concerns.
The biggest prob is that the new F150,250 are no longer available right hand drive out of Brazil or Mexico so converting would be added expense.

There are waiting lists at dealers for used FSeries to pop up. They have Oz's best resale percentages. Most of the guys I know who have them need the easy towing capability and find them quite economical with big loads behind and long lasting.

A Kinder dad has a black 250 Banks F250 supercab with big lift and mickey Ts - it's only a hassle on the road if you don't get out of the way!

I don't have a major problem with F-Series not coming to AU. Can someone explain to me a practical application for needing these in Australia when we have more practical utes available?

An F truck is needed my agricultural industrial people. And anyone else who needs to haul a big load and doesn't want a full on trucks.

Last time I was in Tassie I saw HEAPS, Id imagine over in perth they would be popular too. Manly rural and industrial areas.

you cant tow boats or horse floats with just any kinda ute,u need weight to comply with insurance towing requirements

A friend of ours has a Duel Cab F250 7.3L V8, he is a Pool maker and needs a car (Truck) that size, with good power/torque for towing, but being a duel cab it back up as a Family friendly vehical for holidays, with a comfortable rear cab, unlike a gutless (...In comparison) Hilux or Navara.

They are perfect for Farms, and alot of road companys use them for their towing ability, and for their power, compared to a light truck, their is no comparison.

They were justified in doing it. To make them in RHD would have forced the price up way too high to be competative, as no one else makes them in RHD now that they are no longer made in Brazil. Just something that couldn't be avoided. They really wanted it and tried hard to get it but the numbers didn't add up.

If you own a decent sized boat/horsefloat etc in NSW the RTA insists you drive an appropriately sized tow vehicle. This is why many purchased Holden Suburbans and the like. Woeful build quality and very agricultural. Especially for the $$ but thats all that will do the job this side of a Toyota Dyna.

anyways from a mate that works at ford, the 2nd hand dealers use to buy them new use it then sell it more than the new price cause they could and cause it would sell in a matter of days at their price....

i was taught its easier to make $1mil from a million people ($1 each person) than it is to make 1mil from 1 person...obviously gorman wasnt taught that

I drove a '05 black 4x4 turbo desiel extracab f250,jacked with 35" bfg's and loved it!
I couldn't beleive such a big truck would spin the wheels off the mark at the trafic lights.

A shame that there will be no rhd ones,but they don't sell anywhere near enough here to justify the cost of tooling up for rhd.

Yeah there are a fair amount of them in WA, mainly for businesses dealing with Mines, Professional Fishing, Agriculture etc... like mentioned above. I guess they will have to use 75 Landcruisers or trucks now. I doubt many of them would use an importer.

Being in the country and on a farm we needed a heavy duty vehicle, so purchased a new F250 about 4 yrs ago (have since sold it) but I always thought that was big until I saw an F450 getting around Grafton 2 weeks ago WOW had to turn around and go back for 2nd look.
