The Ecoboost Falcon ticks a lot of boxes and should should almost equal the fuel economy of the Ecoboost Mondeo.
With all the talk of Falcon going to a FWD platform, Ecoboost Falcon sends a clear message to Ford senior management and to sections of the Australian motoring press that their preconceived notions about the inevitability of FWD isn't so. It's so funny to read articles praising the Ecoboost Falcon's fuel economy but then go waffling on about it's supposed demise..... |

I think Dearborn is paying very close attention to how the EBI4T is going to go in the Falcon...

Out of interest does anyone know how the EB Mondeo's real-life consumption figures stack up compared to the official reading? Is it realistic or is it SIDI-istic?

Talked the missus into it last night... when I mentioned it was only going to be a 4 cylinder she went "oh... really", but then mentioned turbo, potential fuel economy and much better running costs than the Paj and she said we'll see how we are situated when it comes out. I did also mention EcoLPI but she wasn't interested in the insurance and rego costs associated with having a 6 cylinder.
Let's face it guys, Ford are entering a new era and it's going to be great from them. Hell, if I can get a female interested in the new Ford product then it's gotta be good, doesn't it?

Hypothetical:
Ecoboost Falcon gets a great response form the public, Ford goes to the government and says that if they could get $100 million, they could take another 60 Kg out of the Falcon and go close to 1580 Kg and like Euro mondeo, use a GEN 2 EB 1.6 with stop start and achieve 5.5 l/100 km.... |

hey guys alot of comments on here are saying things like with the new kuga and mondeo and focus sales strong its good for ford aus.
i was under more of an opinion that the only actual profits are made from the falc and terri? do the profits made from the euro fords stay in aus?

The EcoBoost F150 can easily get over 20mpg highway. My 5.4 3 valve V8 will get about 17-18 highway, and 13 around town. The EcoBoost also blows my V8 away, after driving the EB, mine feels absolutely gutless, and it isn't. Ford got it right with the EcoBoost.

To say that the last 4 cyl australian built family sized car was the VC commodore with a starfire 4 engine is either a sensationalist journalistic lie or written by someone who has no idea of the australian manufacturing history.
The Nissan skyline R31 was locally built in 4 cyl form and badged as the Pintara. Damned good full sized car for its day, fuel injection, 4 disks, air con in all models, power steering...and plenty still on the road. If the journalist wasn't so wet behind the ears he would also have quoted the various 4 cyl magnas manufactured and built in local foundries right up till 2001. It sounds like they are looking to sink the boots in to anything that says "4 cylinder australian car". The last time the journalists bagged an Australian manufactured car they killed off Mitsubishi's 380 through sheer prejudice. The Aussie car journalistic scene needs a good "barbed wire pull through". Between their legs would be the best starting point. |
