I Purchased a new FG XR6 50th Anniversary in September 2010 so in no hurry to trade for a MK11 FG as it's still like new and has never given any issues and great fuel economy for a large car.
So looks like I might keep the car for another 5-10 years before deciding on another new car purchase if hail or accidents don't destroy the car.

I noticed in todays paper John Hughes are selling Undriven demo 2012 MK2 Falcons for $34 990. Surely at this price they should sell like hotcakes??

if everyone had $35K in their pocket, by all means, there probably wouldnt be any left. if everyone could get a $35K loan from the bank, they would.
unfortuanetly, for those of us who dont earn that in a month like some do, we just have to put up with what we have. and as i've seen posted, for a ford oreintated site, the lack of enthusiasm is showing.
long live the falcon.

quite alot of people are "privvy" to the big drop in value ANY car drops the mm the car drives off the car yard as sold brand new.

With multiple home loans/ cost of living outpacing wage increase's and impending future additions to the family im not in a position to buy new.

HOWEVER, I drive a BF MK11 XR6 T, tidy,modified.. i do mnay Km per year for a privately owned car. -just driving my car around reminds others just how good you can look in a falcon.! and how good IT looks!

I plan to buy a new G6ET car with every option when my "daily drive" runs out of manufacturers drivetrain warranty....

If it's still being made in 2018 that is.

Im not thinking to save ford.

Im thinking its a damn good car for the money and theres nothing else like it. Theres no guarantee you will wake up tomorrow so make plans for the things you want.

a supercharged factory v8 with 300rwkw for $60-70k. cant argue with that

I will never buy another falcon new and there is 1 main reason.

I was driving my 2003 BA XT. I had owned it since 2004. The rear brake lines burst due to a recall and nearly ended up in a tree. The brakes went to the floor.

I took it to my local mechanic who told me that he called Ford and was told this was a recall item.

So I took the car to Ford, my dad picked up the car and asked where the letter was for a recall, the service manager said Ford do not send letters out for recalls any longer.

Yet my parents 1996 Mitsubishi Magna had a recal for the fire wall, they bough the car in 2003 and in 2004 got a letter for a firewall recall.

Why should I buy a new Falcon when they do not send recall letters for a big safty issue.

Whilst the Falcon back in the 60's 70's 80's and even into the 90's was touted as an all round family car, those days are long gone. With the range of far more family friendly vehicles these days we don't need to settle for something that may not fulfill all our needs.

We can still be FORD enthusiasts without being Falcon enthusiasts.

That is the worst excuse for not buying a new car i've EVER heard

(hint, if you own it new, you can determine how stiff it is by the way you drive it)

Personally
i'm about due to replace this one, but i'm not looking forward to getting another loan to buy one.
it would be nice to keep this one it'll be extra nice when it's a 40 yo classic,
it's currently in good condition, but it's nearly 5 yo, so that's when the problems will start to appear (Y?N?)

We are still within lease for our existing FG ute. I'm trying to convince my wife (her lease) to shorten the lease to get an EcoLPI in a couple of years .. before they are gone. I have no plans to bother looking at anything else .. Rangers and all those pickups (they are not utes) are not fit-for-purpose for our needs.

Wow, this is why there are so many Falcon's sitting in the yards, it appears that the Falcon just doesn't meet people's needs anymore, other cars have evolved in leaps and bounds to suit the ever changing demand from buyers, yet the Falcon has not!

It also appears that the dreaded BA / Territory build quality issues are still lingering around.

If they would give me a good trade in I'd probably take a new one now... The old ones out of warranty.

I don't think id buy a GT again though, probably an F6 or GS (cheaper).

Have Ford seen what other manufacturers are offering ? Longer warranty's 5-10 years, free roadside assist for 3-5 years, servicing included up to 100,00kms ? Fords warranty and after sales service hasn't changed for a very longtime. That needs looking at. With the complexity of modern cars, I would be looking for a longer warranty, free servicing would be attractive as servicing has got expensive. Roadside assist not so much. as I need RACQ Ultra. only get basic with offers..but some people would find it attractive. Ford need to rethink their whole marketing strategy. I am not Ford bashing, just an observation.

Ford do give free roadside assit for the first cple of years and then free if you get your car serviced at a Ford dealer.

As for warranty - they stuggle to honour the current 3 years.

I wanted a new falcon, probably XR6 Turbo Ute/Sedan, but I wouldn't be buying for 12-18 months if I chose to do so.

But I think i've come to the conclusion that the FG Falcon might just be to big. I might still buy one, but given I spend most of the time driving around town, with my car in a car park all day, i'm not sure I want something so large.

If I don't pick up dads Mondeo next month I might look at something Focus/Impreza Hatch sized.

Even in the first 3 years it has to be serviced at Ford for the free roadside IIRC.
Mine got serviced there twice, i pay RACQ

My modern(ish) falcon supports my business, its a wagon, modified with better seats and interior to make it presentable to clients and tolerable for long distance. Ford doesn't even make a suitable product anymore. Maybe a ecoboost or ecolpg wagon with leather would have been attractive...

anyway, I like old fords better, they go up in value not down.

What it tells me is that whilst Ford and FPV have been finding new and inventive ways to tell me to F Off over the past 9 years, the time has come where they are being rewarded for it.

I would love to think that Ford could sort out their niggly issues, materials and build quality, stand up to their warranty and have the Falcon live long and proud. Obviously it will never happen.

It isn't a couple of whingers on FF killing the Falcon, the world has moved past it.
