Fitted an old Xflow and auto to 1946 Austin 5 ton truck..
Was ideal as it was used for picking up bails of hay...

have seen a 4.1l crossflow in a sigma, no room for radiator, was in the back (racecar) and i think the 4l may be slightly longer. would need to get creative with the radiator, but should be able to do it.

There is a 68 AMC Javelin with all BA Falcon running gear ..
The DOHC 4.0 would be a great substitute for anything already with an inline 6 .. Jag anyone? |

One of my mates had an FJ40 with a 250 X-flow in it, went very well with a decent carby and extractors.

I am sure that in the early sixties the motor was avaliable with a marine conversion for use in speedboats and a low compression version for forklifts.

I've thought of several places for one over the years...
When we had our XC Fairmont GXL, I was impressed with the twin cam Barra motor and five speed auto...especially as I started to see a few advertised here and there at wreckers as they started to show up more and more. I always thought the old girl would have been great with one of those engines in it. The engine in our current car, the G6E, puts out about 270hp...coincidentally about the same as the worked 265 Hemi six cylinder in the VH Charger I owned back when I was 17/18...I still sometimes wonder how a nice light weight Charger would go with, say, a newish Ford 4ltr twin cam engine and six speed auto or manual... Then there are all the old Jaguar XJ6's around, some of which can be had very cheaply now. Remove the massively heavy Jaguar six cylinder, slot in a Ford six and gearbox, and you'd have one hell of a nice car with modern reliability and efficiency and that old Jag presence and style... The options are only limited by your imagination...and wallet...anyone can just throw a V8 in something...it's better to be different and besides, there's just something about the character of a straight six... I want to make this:
Ford's 4L Inline six would be a treat in there. Much better than sourcing some old straight eight.

Most of the smaller pro fishing boats around these parts were powered by Xflows... back when they were still plentiful(iron head not alloy).
Now they just use crate 350 chev's |

the crossflow 4.1 was a popular transplant into the early landcruisers. a lot lighter then the toyo motor.

Are you talking about Envy Dyno's one? I'm sure they put one in a Hilux or Nivara

Son has Xflow, 5 speed in Toyota Coaster, still drives it around Adelaide..
The 5 speed is the weak link..

When i worked at ansett's mechanical workshop in perth a few moons ago their small baggage towing vehicles used to run crossflow motors with restrictor plates under the stromberg to stop them popping wheelys.
